By: Gil Kaan

Sep. 15, 2024

Next up for Morgan-Wixson, straight from the tabloids, Bat Boy: The Musical opens September 28, 2024. Meghan Ripchik directs and choreographs the cast of: Ashton Bianchi, Diana Cabell, Cassandra Caruso, Jack ColyerAaron Ellis, Nico Fisher, Connor Tyler Gray, Lauren Josephs, Kalani Lopez, Lorne, Tommi Jo Mongold, Johnathan O’Neal, Carter Santos, Norman Thatch, Abigail Torrence, Roni Renee Williams and Javon Willis. Meghan found time in between all her various duties to answer a few of my queries. Thank you for taking the time for this interview, Meghan!

Broadway World: The Musical hasn’t been produced in Los Angeles for almost ten years. What inspired you to put on Bat Boy: The Musical now?

Meghan for Bat Boy: The Musical is wonderfully crafted to provide an entertaining story, but also prompts viewers to subconsciously reflect on their own intolerance. With this major election coming up, I can’t think of a better time to get folks to look inwardly on these topics of hypocrisy, and just how easy it can be to be influenced by religious and/or political powers. Not only is this story so timely, click here to continue reading

Thanks so, Cori Goldberg who has been working overtime taking care of our theater. Not only is she a dedicated member of the YES Committee, a producer for YES shows, and proud YES mom - as VP Front of House, we've had a lot of maintenance to be done this past months (repairing seats, wasp nests, lobby carpet cleaning) and Cori takes care of it all. Next time you see her, tell her how grateful we are to have her as a member of our community.

Luck Be a Lady

We have two MWT veterans performing in Conundrum's production of "Guys and Dolls." Bouket Sea, who had been an actress on our stage, and has Produced and Stage Managed behind the scenes at the Morgan-Wixson plays Adelaide. Carter Santos, who was just played Ren in our on summer production of "Footloose" and who is in the soon-to-open "Bat Boy" plays Sky Masterson in "Guys and Dolls." The show runs in Burbank through September 22nd. You can get more information and tickets at G&D Tickets.

Cleaning out our Closets

Big thanks to Bill Willday, Ethan Kuwata, Eve Keller, Jonathon Saia and Michael Heimos for spending their Sunday morning clearing out old furniture from the Furniture Loft. What a difference it makes! Thanks everyone.

On that note, while we really appreciate donations, we kindly ask that you don't bring items to the theatre unless we are specifically looking for a particular piece of furniture or costume. Thanks.

Can you Find this photo on the Lobby Photo Wall?

Looking Back in our archives - 2020:

Can you find this photo on our Lobby Photo Wall? During the pandemic, we did zoom readings on our Virtual Stage each month. One of those reading was Nathan Ramos-Park's "As We Babble On." After the reading, we were grateful to have Nathan join us for a talkback about the piece. This photo (right) shows the virtual cast of the show, along with playwright and screenwriter Nathan Ramos-Park, and moderator Michael Heimos.

It's not too late. We would be grateful for your help!
