The special event will take place November 16th, at the Herb Alpert Educational Village at New Roads School in Santa Monica. The 20th Annual MY HERO International Film Festival is made possible in part by a grant from the Scripps Family Impact Fund.

Eva Haller - mentor and philanthropist, presents annually the Women Transforming Media Award, to recognize students and professionals whose short films feature women's stories.

This year's music video award is given in partnership with the nonprofit SING FOR HOPE, an organization that uses the power of the arts to create a better world. The cash award is sponsored by Eva Haller.

Esther Wojcicki - esteemed global educator and author presents the Youth Reporter Award to middle school and high school filmmakers for their outstanding short documentaries.

Each year, Kathy Eldon and Amy Eldon Turteltaub present the Dan Eldon Activist Award to the filmmaker who best uses their craft to celebrate activists who create change in the world. Dan Eldon was a fearless activist, artist, and photojournalist who dedicated his life to telling the untold stories and helping those in need. 

Judith Anderson Ph.D. - President of the Foundation for the Contemporary Family and UCI Professor of Psychiatry annually gives the Relationships First Award, which celebrates short films that explore and illuminate the powerful and poignant connections within any type of contemporary family relationship.

Ron Kovic - veteran, artist, and author of New York Times bestseller Born on the Fourth of July, presnts the Kovic Peace Prize each year to filmmakers whose work reflects the theme of peace and show how non-violence can solve the world’s biggest challenges.
