Meeting the Challenges in
Youth Mental Health
Networking Breakfast

If you have not registered yet for JAG's networking breakfast on April 3rd, in place of our regular JAG meeting, please fill out the attached form and fax back TODAY!!

JAG has been planning a networking breakfast for community mental health providers, schools and parent advocates to address this perceived scarcity of mental health services for youth.  We are joining our effort with Milford Regional Medical Center's Patient Family Advocacy Committee's (PFAC) Mental Health Subcommittee to broaden the discussion to include the hospital and families affected by mental illness. The breakfast will feature a panel discussion with: Jeffrey Hopkins MD, Chair, Dept. of Emergency Medicine at Milford Regional, Mike McIntyre, Asst' Principal, Milford High School, and Kelly Graves, Maternity Nurse and Parent.

This is a FREE networking breakfast scheduled for Wednesday, April 3rd from 8:30-11:30 am at the Doubletree Hotel in Milford. The goal of this breakfast is to "connect the dots" in the Greater Milford area by bringing providers together to facilitate these connections, share best practices and identify the gaps in local resources. The second purpose is to create a local resource directory of mental health providers that can be accessed by school personnel, parents and other health care providers.

Prior to the networking breakfast, we request that you to fill out the this questionnaire in order to be included in the resource directory. These should be emailed to or faxed to 508-422-0243.
Find Yourself Friday

The Milford Youth Center and JAG Youth Council will host a "Find Yourself Friday" Youth event on Friday, April 26th from 6:30-9:00 PM at the Milford Youth Center. The event will include music, dancing, snacks and games!

The JAG Youth Council decided to have the proceeds of the event go towards their Relay for Life team! The JAG Youth Council discussed that they wanted participate in Milford's Relay for Life on May 10th to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. Relay teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around the high school. Relay events are up to 24 hours in length and, because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times. To donate to the MYC & JAG team, click here

Find Yourself Friday's mission is to create a healthy, fun and educational environment for our youth while offering them an opportunity to improve their community. Find Yourself Fridays are held once-per-month at the Milford Youth Center on a Friday night. These events give youth a safe environment to be with their peers and enjoy music, dancing, games and healthy snacks. These events are developed by members of the JAG Youth Council, they meet weekly to develop monthly themes based on what they feel is an important issue facing the community and give a portion of the money collected to the cause of the month.

Find Yourself Fridays have been an enormous success over the last 2 year, with over 150 youth attending each month and donating to various charities. Some of these include: Milford Housing Authority, Cell Phones for Soldiers, Best Buddies , Compassionate Care ALS, Kony 2012, Anti-Bullying, Milford Play Initiative, Milford Daily Bread Food Pantry, a sneaker collection for youth in the Dominican Republic, JAG members to attend a Youth Leadership Summit in DC, United Way of Tri-County's "Feed a Family for Fifty," and to Newtown, CT families.  Find Yourself Fridays are sponsored by the United Way of Tri-County, CHNA-6 and

Learn from the experts at the Medical Marijuana Panel Presentation sponsored by WaylandCares and WHS Guidance. This event was postponed from March 19th, when school was cancelled and has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 14th at 7:30 pm in the Wayland High School auditorium.
