After School Calendar and Thank you's! 

MYC YouthClick here  for our March 2012 after school calendar. This month the Youth Center will have its 3rd Annual March Madness Tourney! Sign up's will start at the end of the month with 3 days of games and finals!


The Milford Youth Center would like to thank Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School technology staff, Arthur Jackman, Technology Director, Walter Ramsey, Information Technology instructor, and Jonathan Capece, Information Technology student, and volunteer at the Milford Youth Center, for the donation of six computers to the Youth Center. These new computers have been a major upgrade from our previous equipment, and have allowed us to enhance the center more technologically. We cannot thank BVT enough for their continuous support of the Milford Youth Center.


We would also like to thank Boston College for providing basketball tickets to our youth and also Pepperonchini's, Athletic Based Training and Glen Ellen Country Club in Millis for their donations.   


Youth Fashion Show a Success!

MYC Youth  The Juvenile Advocacy Group, in affiliation with the Milford Youth Center, hosted a teen fashion show titled "Get Dressed Up, Not Messed Up!" at the Milford Youth Center. The event aimed to raise awareness about underage drinking, as well as to increase youth self-esteem regarding body image.


Youth from the JAG Youth Council, produced a video demonstrating the success in decreasing underage drinking over the past five years and asked 100 Milford youth why they wanted to live without drugs and alcohol. The Juvenile Advocacy Group and the Milford Youth Center would like to thank everyone who participated and attended our show. We would specifically like to thank Blackstone Valley Tech's Media and Cosmetology Department, TJ Maxx for donating the youth fashions, 495 Rental for donating the chairs, National Art Honor Society, and the numerous volunteers that made the night possible including Ron Auger, Brea Pham, Jenny Medina, Mike Dehey, Jon Capece, Katie Glennon, Joe Graziano, Christine Daddario, Candice Robinson, Amanda Houle & Briana Tonelli (You Inc. volunteers) and Tim Snow. A special thanks goes to the support of the Milford Youth Center, Jennifer Ward and Sidney DeJesus, if it was not for them this show would not have been possible.


JAG Youth Council Selected to Judge
 State Wide Poster Judging Contest

MYC YouthOver 20 JAG Youth Council members voted for the 2012 Safe Jobs for Youth Poster Contest on behalf of several state agencies including the Attorney General's Office, the Dept. of Public Health, the Dept. of Labor Standards, and Commonwealth Corporation.   


Youth from around the state created posters to show the importance of safety in the workplace for teens. Winners will be announced on Thursday, April 19 (school vacation week) at a press conference in Boston. JAG Youth Council members are planning to attend the press conference! Milford Youth Center

St. Pat's Dinner/Dance Fundraiser  

MYC Youth Have you purchased tickets yet for The Milford Youth Center's third annual St. Pat's Dinner Dance and Fundraiser?! If still have time!!!


The event will be held on Saturday, March 17th. Please help us reach our goal of raising $20,000 while enjoying music from DJ Ron Auger, great raffles prizes and a delicious dinner catered by Oliva's!


The evening, hosted at 24 Pearl St., starts at 7 p.m. and ends at midnight. There will also be a cash bar. Tickets cost $35 per person and donations are accepted. You may also reserve tables of 8. Change your child from a Picky to Power Eater! 4 Better Health of Milford will be hosting a one hour workshop, offering tips and tricks to help your family try and eat nutritional foods.  


This workshop will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, from 6:30-7:30pm at Kids on the Common Pediatrics, 28 Grafton Common, Grafton, MA. The cost of the course is $5.00, which will go toward the Grafton Food Bank.

Underage Drinking Prevention Conference    


The Office of District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr. in cooperation with The Molly Bish Center at Anna Maria College and the Worcester County Sheriff Lewis G. Evangelidis would like to invite you to the 4th Annual Underage Drinking Prevention Conference on

Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 8:00 A.M. until 2:30 P.M. on the Anna Maria College campus in Paxton.


This year we would also like to invite students to have a presentation table at the conference showcasing their efforts to prevent underage drinking in their school. There are a limited number of tables available, so please act quickly if your school group would like to participate. This is great opportunity for your students to share their ideas and network with other schools in Worcester County. Members of the JAG Youth Council will not only be attending the conference but also will be having their own table!

Milford Play Initiative Meeting  


The next Milford Play Initiative meeting is Monday, March 19th from 1-2 PM at the Milford Town Library. 


The Milford Play Initiative is a volunteer group aimed to raise awareness of the need and resources for a centrally located playground that offers a play space for all ages and connects families within the Milford Community.

Healthy Futures of Milford   


March is National Nutrition Month!! Join Healthy Futures of Milford - a group 

committed to reducing inactivity and poor nutrition in our community through innovative programs, projects and policies. 


Food Play will be performing this Friday March 2nd for K-2 in the Milford Schools. This was made possible through the generosity of Hannaford's, JAG, Healthy Futures of Milford and a mini grant from CHNA-6.  


The next Healthy Futures meeting will be on March 20th from 10 - 11:30 at Brookside Elementary School. All are welcome!

Leave your Impression on the

Scarlet Hawk Walkway!   


The Milford High School Boosters will be offering engraved bricks to individuals, groups, clubs, sports teams and business which will create a walkway and patio to be built around the new concession stand this summer. The money raised by this event will pay to have the new stand outfitted for use and to support the High School sports teams.

Milford Family Fun Fair! 


Make sure you come to the 2012 Family Fun Fair at the Milford High School Cafeteria on Saturday. March 31st.   


This annual event is co-sponsored with the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation and the Kennedy-Donovan Center.   


There will be enrichment information on health, educational, and safety issues are provided by various local agencies and programs. There are free activities and demonstrations for the whole family.
