MYC Thanks the Community for Support!

The Milford Youth Center would like to thank the numerous organizations, groups, families and youth that have voiced their support for the renovation of the armory. You all are helping us show how important the Armory and the Center is for the community! We encourage more people to continue to write letters of support and show their presence on Wednesday, May 14th at the Finance Meeting and Monday, May 19th at Town Meeting! Both meetings will be held at 7 PM.

We also would like to invite all Town Meetings members to schedule a tour of the Center at their convenience by calling 508-473-1756 or email us!  As a Town Meeting member, we know the importance of making important decisions on behalf of the Town, especially in terms of its finances. We also recognize the importance of making decisions that will protect the future of our community. For these reasons, we feel strongly that it is the right thing to do for the Town of Milford to appropriate funds to renovate the Youth Center.  If you are unfamiliar with the Center, we promise you that once you enter this 103 year old historical treasure, you will realize the value it has for entire Milford community and what it has become to symbolize for its youth: a place of fortitude, safety, and protection.

Please visit our Facebook and website (www.milfordyouthcenter.net) for daily testimonials and more up to date information on the project! Click here for video of kids expressing the importance of the the Center!

Relay for Life Team!

The JAG Youth Council and Milford Youth Center has signed up to participate in the Relay for Life of Greater Milford for the second year in a row!

The JAG Youth Council decided that they wanted to participate in Milford's Relay for Life on May 9th to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. Relay teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around the high school. Relay events are up to 24 hours in length and, because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times. To donate to the MYC & JAG team, click here. To see photos from last year's event, click here The group will also be collecting sneakers at the event for youth in need in the Dominican Republic!

Milford Youth Center (MYC) mission is to provide a safe environment that promotes self esteem, builds character, and fosters the notion of community and the importance of respecting and serving others. For more information, click here.

The MYC & JAG work together to provide resources and opportunities for youth to make healthy decisions. The MYC & JAG have worked to provide local youth with the necessary activities and events that help them develop physically, mentally, socially and emotionally through their childhood years. By providing Milford youth with these types of programs and a safe environment during the after school hours and during our monthly events, we hope to address adolescent risk factors as well as promoting the partnership among community members to ensure a comprehensive vision and plan for the health of the youth in the town of Milford.
