MYC Director Named as one of the
Unsung Heroines of 2017!!

We are very excited and proud to announce that our Director, Jen Ward, was selected by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women as one of the Commonwealth's Unsung Heroines of 2017!

Annual Unsung Heroine honors go to incredible women who have been nominated by legislators from their districts and selected for their contributions to their community and the Commonwealth.  Unsung Heroines are women who don't always make the news, but truly make the difference in their communities, businesses, or volunteer endeavors.  These women, without fanfare or recognition, use their time, talent, spirit, and enthusiasm to enrich the lives of others.  Jen has certainly gone above and beyond her duties here at the Milford Youth Center in the everyday life of looking out for what is best for the building and the programs that are utilized by kids and families throughout the community. Congratulations Jen! You deserve to be recognized for all your hard work and diligence! We would also like to thank Rep. Brian Murray for nominating Jen! For more information on the award, click here

MYC AmeriCorps Member Graduates!

Congratulations to Victoria Williams, who graduated from the SCI AmeriCorps Program this month. AmeriCorps is a network of local, state, and national service programs that connects more than 80,000 citizens (nearly 2,000 in MA) each year in intensive service to meet our country's critical needs in education, the environment, public safety (including disaster preparedness and response), health, etc.  Since 1994, 820,000 AmeriCorps members have contributed more than 1 billion hours of service.

The Youth Center has been lucky enough to have Victoria as a part of our center, working under AmeriCorps. She has worked diligently leading our youth council, supervising our after-school program, and assisting staff with all fundraisers and events throughout the year. We are excited to announce that she will join us again for the 2017-2018 school year. We are so happy to have created this partnership with AmeriCorps, which began in 2006. The members they provide us with perform essential services for the Center, which are crucial to our outreach and education of our youth.
Paul Seaver Scholarships Awarded!

MYC sends a huge congratulations to Chris Cicciu and Zack Tamagni for being awarded the MYC "Paul Seaver Scholarship" at this year's Senior Awards night!

This award has been given to deserving recipients for the last five years and we hope to continue this great tradition for years to come! Both Zack and Chris joined us at our end of the year party to accept their award from Debbie Seaver! Thank you Debbie for joining us!

BE a Part of the MYC Telethon!!!

Join the MYC and  Milford TV for our  Telethon on Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 4-10 PM. In an effort to help the Center, after State funding was cut, Milford TV offered to join forces and put on a telethon to draw attention to the Youth Center's endeavors to finish our music rooms and studio, areas that were not a part of the scope of the renovation.

We are  currently  looking for sponsors for this event to help kick off the fundraising! Any donation would be appreciated and would go a long way to help our MYC Music Room & Studio come to fruition! Sponsors will have their company, organizations or individuals name presented throughout the Telethon! The telethon will be aired on Milford TV (Comcast 8 and Verizon 38; Streaming live at MilfordTV.net)

We are also looking for different acts and permormances to be part of the telethon on the day of the show! We currently have a great group of bands and singers that have committed and will annouce them all at a later date!

As always, we appreciate the support from the community and thank Milford TV for their time and help with planning this event with us! Thank you Ray Auger for our awesome flier as well! If you are interested in sponsorship, performing or volunteering, please call the Center at 508-473-1756 or email milfordyouthcenter@comcast.net

Milford Youth Center (MYC) mission  is to provide a safe environment that promotes self esteem, builds character, and fosters the notion of community and the importance of respecting and serving others. For more information, click here .

The  MYC  works together with other community organizations to provide resources and opportunities for youth to make healthy decisions. The MYC works to provide local youth with the necessary activities and events that help them develop physically, mentally, socially and emotionally through their childhood years. By providing Milford youth with these types of programs and a safe environment during the after school hours and during our monthly events, we hope to address adolescent risk factors as well as promoting the partnership among community members to ensure a comprehensive vision and plan for the health of the youth in the town of Milford.
