Some House Keeping...

Nominate a Good Reflector or Risk Taker

During February we are highlighting students who are reflective or good risk-takers - both important attributes of IB learners. If you know a reflective student or risk taker, please send their name and a brief explanation or anecdote of why you are nominating them to receive the February highlight to [email protected]

Reflective. They give thoughtful consideration to their own learning and experience. They are able to assess and understand their strengths and limitations in order to support their learning and personal development.

Risk-takers. They approach unfamiliar situations and uncertainty with courage and forethought, and have the independence of spirit to explore new roles, ideas and strategies. They are brave and articulate in defending their beliefs.

Community Projects Taking Shape!

We are excited to report that our 8th graders community projects are starting to take shape! Each year, our MYP 8th graders choose a project that makes their community a better place and works independently or in a small group throughout the school year to make a real change. At this point, our 8th graders have chosen their topic, and created surveys or interview questions to get important feedback. We are excited to see their final projects.

6th Grade - Science

We are just starting our new unit on rocks and minerals. We will be learning all about the rock cycle and how to classify rocks and minerals. They will be taking a rock journey and making our own rocks (out of starbursts!).

7th Grade - Individuals & Societies

In Mrs. Weber’s 7th grade I&S class, we just wrapped up our Middle Ages Unit, and our next topic of study will be the Kingdoms of West Africa.
