Since 2005, many people have decorated their lawns with pinwheels to draw attention to the International Day of Peace on September 21. The "Pinwheels for Peace" project was started by two teachers in Florida with the tag line, "imagine whirled peace".

This year, the Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation Department is asking patrons to help us celebrate by decorating a pinwheel we will use to decorate the outside of our own facilities.

To take part in this fun event, decorate the front and back of the pinwheel template below and return to the Community Center or Senior Center main desk prior to Friday, September 17.

Parks and Recreation staff will then assemble the pinwheels to be displayed on International Day of Peace!
