LATEST NEWS & UPDATES
The city of Sterling Heights and the Parks and Recreation Department are pleased to announce that all COVID-19 related restrictions for our outdoor popular events and facilities will be lifted as of June 1, 2021, aligning with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services guidelines published yesterday.
The recent changes impacts the below events and amenities:
  • The 46th annual Music in the Park concerts will be open for everyone to enjoy, including residents and non-residents. Patrons from different households will be able to sit with members from other households and pre-registration is no longer required for these events.
  • The annual Cultural Exchange will be held under the Farmers Market Pavilion June 18, and pre-registration is no longer required for this event.
  • The Dodge Park Splash Pad will open June 1 to residents only with normal capacity restrictions of 400 patrons at a time. We will monitor the use of the amenity to assess the opportunity of opening to non-residents. Use of the splash pad will no longer require pre-registration and two hour sessions have been eliminated. Visit our website for more splash pad info and hours.
  • Park pavilions will return to 100 percent seating capacity beginning June 1, and all rentable pavilions (Dodge Park x 3, Nelson Park, and Farmstead Park) will be restored to full capacity by end of the business day on June 4.
  • In addition to the above updates, we are happy to announce that masks are no longer required for all outdoor events and facilities, regardless of vaccination status.
  • Please continue following us on social media and on our website for more updates on bringing City events and programs back to 100 percent!
The 46th Annual Music in the Park concert series is back this summer at the Dodge Park Amphitheatre!

Pre-registration is not required! This event is open to both residents and non-residents.
MOBILE VACCINATION SITE

In addition to enjoying the sounds of great music in a comfortable park setting, we are happy to report that the City of Sterling Heights is continuing to be proactive in our efforts to provide residents who want to receive a COVID-19 vaccine a quick and convenient opportunity to do so. As such, between the hours of 5:30 and 8:30 pm on June 3 and June 10, the Sterling Heights Fire Department will have a mobile vaccination site with a team of paramedics at the park offering doses of the Pfizer vaccine to unvaccinated patrons that are enjoying the concert or to residents just at the park in general.

As has been widely publicized, the Pfizer vaccine has received emergency authorization by the FDA for children and adults ages 12+.

If you are interested in taking advantage of this convenient opportunity, please email recreation@sterling-heights.net with your name so we can schedule a specific time of the night to ensure you don’t waste time standing in a line.

The Parks and Recreation Department is grateful for the opportunity to once again provide opportunities to bring our community together for common purposes, and we look forward to a safe and successful concert series in 2021.
