Anthony Wayne III Senior Housing Ribbon Cutting
Congratulations to the Anthony Wayne III Senior Housing team on the Ribbon Cutting Celebration of the affordable rental development which was held at the Southwest Philadelphia site on September 25th.

The project is ENERGY STAR certified and was designed to meet Passive House standards. MaGrann was the Green Building Consultant for the project and helped the team through all aspects of its high performance goals.

Jon Jensen, MaGrann's Director of Sustainability and the Certified Passive House Consultant for the Anthony Wayne III Senior Housing project attended the ribbon cutting celebration when he met with a three-month resident who told him, "I've never had an electric bill so low. I called the power company to make sure it wasn't a mistake. I never had central air before, so I thought it was going to be different, but this was cheaper than using those window units once in a while" .

Virginia Provides New Options for Receiving LIHTC QAP Green Points
By Mike Brown, MaGrann Associates
October 18, 2018
This October, the Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA) Board will approve changes to the 2019 Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP) which will provide developer teams a greater variety of options to obtain Green Points. This change aligns Virginia with many other states where developers are provided with options in choosing the green program that is right for their project. These options will present real cost savings and improved access to funding streams for Developers. MaGrann is proud to have worked with Virginia and many other states to promote the use of green certification programs for points in the QAP.

Walk/Run for Pancreatic Research
MaGrann Associates' Director of Business Development, Mike Brown, organized a 5K Walk and Run for Pancreatic Cancer Research in 2009, in honor of his brother-in-law, Steve "Doc" Charton, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 of the disease.

Though "Doc" lost his battle with cancer in 2012, the event has continued in his honor. Now, in its 10th year, the Greater Philadelphia Walk/Run for Pancreatic Cancer Research has raised more than $370,000 for the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.

This year's Walk/Run will take place on Sunday, November 4th, at 8am, at Cooper River Park Stadium, North Park Drive, in Pennsauken, NJ.

"This year’s event is special for two reasons. After 10 years, I will be ‘passing the baton’ as event organizer. Second, in addition to honoring the memory of Steve, I will be running for a close friend in Florida who is currently fighting the disease. So raising money for pancreatic cancer research is the best way I can think of honoring and supporting the thousands of individuals who wage a heroic battle against this terrible disease," said Mike.
