Affordable Housing in Washington, DC
Rich with amenities, the development of Capitol Vista in Washington, DC was built as a result of the recent affordable housing announcements by Mayor Muriel Bowser in the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood.

Capitol Vista is a 104-unit, 100% affordable community. It houses residents earning up to 50% of the median family income or $58,600 for a family of four. Amenities include 3,000 square feet of ground floor retail and space for public art, and close proximity to Metro stations, bus routes, a grocery store, multiple places of worship, a library, recreation and restaurants.

We were happy to partner with Hamel Builders and Grimm & Parker Architects to complete the ENERGY STAR Multifamily High Rise and EGC 2015 New Construction certifications for this project.

Apple, Amazon, And Google Want To Standardize Your Smart Home
Interoperability issues have always been  at the forefront  of the ever-expanding Internet of Things (IoT). While there will always be brand loyalists and evangelists out there, the reality is that it's simply unrealistic to expect a factory, office, or even a household to construct its entire IoT ecosystem with only one company's devices and protocols.

The  Zigbee  Alliance recently announced that it has brought together some tech giants, including Apple, Amazon, and Google to form a new working group, the Connected Home over IP (or CHIP) project, to develop and promote a new, royalty-free and secure connectivity standard for smart home products.

Company News
Remembering Mark MaGrann

At our company's Annual Meeting on February 4, 2020, we unveiled a dedication to our late founder, Mark MaGrann.

Mark founded MaGrann Associates in 1982 out of a need to improve energy and comfort performance of the homes people live in. He worked tirelessly to build his business and advocate for energy efficiency and building science, still only emerging concepts at the time. He built the foundation for MaGrann Associates to become the company it is today.

We were saddened to share the news of Mark's passing on April 3, 2019.

"Mark was a pioneer in this industry. I know he would be so proud to see that the company he created continues to thrive and grow, which is an enduring legacy to what he believed in so strongly. We miss him every day," said President and CEO Rich Selverian.

We will forever honor his memory and his legacy in our minds and our hearts, and with this small representation of our appreciation to him, here in our home office.
