Energy Efficiency Alliance Policy Conference Success |

Congratulations to the Energy Efficiency Alliance, comprising KEEA in Pennsylvania and EEA-NJ in New Jersey, for drawing more than 170 enthusiastic participants and presenters to its Forging the Future policy conference at the Philadelphia Navy Yard in May – the first time back in person since 2019.

Topics ranged from big picture to highly specific policy issues, including:
- Equity and workforce development challenges
- Energy efficiency’s role in building decarbonization
- State specific developments
- Debates over cost effectiveness calculation
.
In his closing remarks, Conference Planning Chair and MaGrann’s Vice President of Program & Strategic Development, Ben Adams, noted that "we are in the midst of an existential crisis - Climate change - and at least three societal crises - Housing, Equity, and Public Health - but Energy Efficiency and Building Performance have a critical role in addressing all of them."

NJ PACE is Coming Soon!

NJ EDA is working to finalize guidelines and regulations this summer to roll out the NJ PACE program. Multifamily buildings are eligible property types for retrofit and new construction programs. The department will prioritize retrofit program and follow up with the rules for new construction and refinancing or “recapitalization” soon thereafter. Municipalities will then need to establish local programs through an ordinance, which normally takes a couple of months and scheduled public hearings.

House Bill SB 635 has passed and is awaiting Governor Wolf's signature! This act will take effect 60 days after signing and enable financing for multifamily, resilience, and indoor air quality projects.

NYC Accelerator Program Relaunches

We are excited to share that MaGrann has been accepted into the NYC Accelerator Program as a participating service provider!

The NYC Accelerator Program was designed to mobilize the existing built environment toward achieving regulatory requirements and to help put the city on the path to decarbonization, in response to the Climate Mobilization Act from NYC Mayor’s Office of Climate & Environmental Justice.

As a service provider, MaGrann is now equipped with additional resources to engage current NY clients undergoing energy retrofits, move further into NYC’s existing building market, and contribute to one of the largest citywide efforts to cut carbon emissions, boost energy performance and improve health and quality of life for residents.
