Energy Square , a New York, Net-Zero Milestone
Located in Kingston, NY, Energy Square is a 57-unit, 5-story building with commercial space on the first floor.

In partnership with Rural Ulster Preservation Company, the project will boast Net-Zero energy use for dwelling units, combining geothermal and solar power sources and other energy-efficient features. The project is predicting 60% BTU savings compared to a NY Code baseline and also targeting ENERGY STAR, EPA Indoor airPLUS and LEED v4 for BD+C: Homes and Multifamily Lowrise Gold certifications.

Architecture was provided by Dutton Architecture PLLC . MaGrann Associates provided MEPfp and Energy Modeling services.

Commissioning multifamily properties is not a straightforward process. Multifamily building types are diverse and are not easily characterized as commercial or residential. There are also specific commissioning requirements for lighting, heating, cooling, domestic hot water and ventilation that impact scope, price and performance outcomes for the project.

August 7th, 1:00-2:20 PM - Affordable Passive House Lifestyle and Performance Webinar
Join us to gain perspective on a passive house building analysis that also considers the human perspective of high performance buildings. The presentation will compare energy consumption of two similar multifamily buildings – one designed to Passive House and other to ENERGY STAR. We’ll also interview residents to gain insights on the experience of living in these high performance building types.

New Employee
Ryan Behnke is the newest member of the MaGrann Associates Multifamily team joining us as an MEP Design Engineer.

Role: I am a mechanical engineer whose focus is HVAC and plumbing at the moment. I'm currently learning more about the systems in order to assist other engineers in the office and potentially in the field.

Proud to Continue Participation in the Drexel Co-op Program!

Huyen Nguyen joins the MaGrann team as the newest Drexel University co-op. Huyen is a junior majoring in Mechanical Engineering and will work as a Technical Consultant at MaGrann, for her first co-op.

Fun Fact: I love reading. One of my favorite books is The Rainbow Troops which inspires me a lot. I also enjoy baking in my free time.
