Major Retailers Coming to The Village at Mableton Shopping Center (Old K-Mart) | |
Mableton residents will soon be able to shop four new popular brand name retailers at The Village at Mableton, located at the corner of Veterans Memorial Highway and Mableton Parkway.
Five Below, Burlington Stores, dd’s Discounts and Ross Dress for Less are opening over the coming months in the former Kmart location. Plus, Hibbett Sports and Perfect Polish Nail Lounge will be opening new locations.
In addition to the new store openings, the entire center is being updated with a new façade, landscaping and enhanced signage.
Consumers can charge their electric vehicles at the two EVgo chargers located near the center entrance by Sherwin Williams on Veterans Memorial Highway.
The shopping center owner, Brixmor Property Group, has invested $19.6 million to upgrade the center to better serve Mableton and the surrounding communities.

Commissioner Sheffield is seeking volunteers for District-wide cleanup on June 3
Roll up your sleeves to clean the streets. Commissioner Monique Sheffield will host her District 4 Annual Litter Cleanup from 8 a.m. - noon Saturday, June 3. Volunteers will gather at the Walmart parking lot, 1133 East-West Connector in Austell. We will provide coffee and cleanup supplies, and have door prizes before volunteers disperse.
The Cobb Department of Transportation, Keep Cobb Beautiful, District 4 Adopt-A-Mile sponsors as well as the Mableton mayor and city council will be taking part in the community effort. Contact deedra.watts@cobbcounty.org for additional information.

At the conclusion of the 2023 school year, MIC’s Education committee presented the 2nd Annual Student Leader Awards to City View Elementary School 5th graders. The leadership awards are based on four distinct characteristics of a Future Leader. The nominated students have successfully demonstrated the qualities of Honesty, Compassion, Curiosity and Courage in their interaction with their teachers and fellow classmates.
Each of 5th grade teachers nominated and recognized one of their students that displayed some or all the outstanding characteristics of Leadership. Listed below are the 2023 award winners.

Pebblebrook CTAE Shark Tank Champion for 2023!

The eagerly anticipated Shark Tank competition took place in the media center of Pebblebrook High School on Wed. May 17th. Among the varied “business ventures” were products for home and leisure, as well as sweets and treats for the soul and the stomach. The event showcased the exceptional talent and entrepreneurial spirit bubbling in the young minds of CTAE (Career Technical Agricultural Education) students. | |
The Shark Tank Event was an intimate affair, designed to foster a sense of warmth and connection among the esteemed, parents, judges, and the participants from the Young Entrepreneurs Association. The eight (8) finalists for the Shark tank were selected and pre-qualified from the hugely successful Popup Market held on May 10th in the amphitheater. | |

Hearing and Meeting Information - The Planning Commission hearings are the first Tuesday of each month and the Board of Commissioners Zoning Hearings are the third Tuesday of each month, except January. Both are at 9 am at 100 Cherokee Street just off Marietta Square. Virtual participation may be available.

Each month, District Commissioner Monique Sheffield and Planning Commissioner Michael Hughes hold a virtual "In The Zone" meeting to review pending zoning applications.
