Reflections ART Program is Back!

Volunteers are needed to assist with the Reflections ART program. A committee is forming that will promote the program, coordinate student art submissions, identify local volunteers or teachers to judge the art, and to coordinate a final celebration for all participants and winners. Email
AlexisBever@me.com if you are interested in volunteering on this committee.
Reflections is a PTA sponsored program designed to
spark imagination and creativity in school and at home through the arts. All students K - 5 are eligible to participate in this program by creating and submitting original works in the areas of
dance choreography, film, production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. The 2019-2020 theme is "
Look Within". Submission details and deadlines will be shared soon.

Character Connection: Sportsmanship
|
Here are some discussion points to talk about sportmanship with your child:
- What are examples of good sportsmanship?
- Is it always important to win every time? Why or why not?
- How do you think we could show sportsmanship in our home?
- Play a board game or card card and show good sportsmanship.

Front "Walker" Gate Clarification
|
Unless your child is riding a bicycle, the front gate (sidewalk coming down to Estrella from the corner by the music room) is NOT a place to meet your child after school. "Walkers" are children who are able to exit the gate and travel, alone, to their destination. When people congregate outside the gate (waiting for students, visiting with other parents), it blocks the sidewalk and makes it unsafe for others to pass. Consider a different meeting place, away from the exit gate. However, please keep in mind that there may be days that you are late or have forgotten an early release day. Your child must be responsible enough to know what to do if you are not at your designated meeting place.
If you must meet your child, the safest dismissal is to have your child go to their grade level dismissal room to wait for you.

Thank you to a Mabry parent for morning drop-off suggestion!
The carline in the back of the school off Neptune is empty in the mornings! The easy way to access is Henderson to Neptune (to avoid congestion on Lois). Give it a try!
