Parents' Night Out (and Raffle!)
Please attend the FREE screening of Backpack Full of Cash at Tampa Theatre on Sept 20th at 7:30pm. 

This is a  free community event  for all parents who want to learn more about the real costs of privatizing America's public schools.

As a bonus, Mabry parents that attend can enter a raffle at the  theater door to win one of two FREE spring ASE classes. 
Kindness Week!

Monday: Student Council reps will hand out the Kindness Week Checklist.  
Tuesday: Students will receive a leaf from their teacher. Write an act of kindness you experience here at Mabry and add it to the tree outside the lunchroom.
Wednesday: Compli-mats!  Today in block 1, teachers will place a "Compli-mat" on your desk.  Write your name on yours, then walk around the room and leave a sweet message for EVERYONE in your room.
Thursday: Positivity Challenge-Today, try to only say Kind things to both yourself and others!
Friday: Turn in your Kindness Checklist to student council reps.

Yearbook Cover Design Contest
Primary Grades (PK-2nd) Requirements for back cover contest: Must include the school vision "Inspired to learn, lead, succeed"
 
Intermediate Grades (3rd-5th) Requirements for front cover contest: School name and the year, (2018-2019)
 
The design for both the front and the back must be student created by hand, not on the computer. In order for your design to be judged, your name must be on the back, not the front. All creations must be submitted on plain white 8 ½ X 11 paper. Turn your cover in to your homeroom teacher.

eWallet and Fall Book Fair info
The Scholastic Fall Book Fair will be at Mabry from Monday, Sept 24 - Friday, Sept 28 during school hours for the students to shop. Due to new school safety procedures, there will be no before school shopping with your child.

Families will be able to shop together on Monday, 9/24 from 1:30-3:30pm and again all afternoon and evening on Thursday, 9/27 throughout conference night.  The teacher with the most families who attend both events will receive $20 Scholastic Dollars to spend on his/her classroom.

This year t he new digital payment option is available at Mabry! Sign up for eWallet!  Simply follow this link to set up an account and the funds will be immediately available for your child. Safe and secure!  No cash, no checks, no hassle!! This will come in extremely handy if your child will be shopping without you during school hours.
Walk-A-Thon
Mabry's fall fundraiser, the Walk-A-Thon is Saturday, October 20, from 9 AM to Noon at the Coleman track.
 
Fundraising packets went home in your student's Friday folder on Friday, September 14. Start fundraising now to help us reach our goal. Donations are due by October 9. Funds go to the Mabry PTA. More information can be found here. Business sponsor opportunities available.

Safety Committee
Mabry PTA Safety Committee is having a meeting and brainstorming session Monday, Sept 17th at 6:00 pm at Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza on S. Dale Mabry. New team members and ideas are welcomed! Please RSVP to Taylor Garland taylor.garland@gmail.com.
ASE: Reminder
The first week of ASE went well! Please remind your student to bring a water bottle to ASE due to the hot weather and being outside for check in. 
Wear Gold for 
Pediatric Cancer
This Thursday, Sept 20, have your child bring $1 and wear gold or yellow to show your support and awareness of Pediatric Cancer!  Money goes to the Mabry Relay for Life team. 
Flu Shot Clinic
HCPS has partnered with  Healthy Schools - the nation's largest school vaccine  provider - to offer flu shots to your child during the school day. The copay is $0, so  there is no cost to you. The flu shot clinic will take place at Mabry on campus on Thursday, Sept 27th.

The Dolphin Depot has been restocked!  Place your order online by 9/24 to guarantee delivery on 9/28. New adult sizes in the Friday Dri Fit Spirit shirt now available. 
Education Referendum
Come learn about the November tax referendum for Education on October 16, 9:00-10:30am at Wright's Gourmet. Superintendent Jeff Eakins, along with other district leadership, will be there to answer questions and explain the district's significant needs and capital improvement plans.
