Mabry Minute for Week of 10/21/18
Mabry Walk-A-Thon
Thank you to the many dolphin walkers, families, parents, teachers, staff, and sponsors for their support of Mabry's Fall Fundraiser Walk-A-Thon. This one was for the record books! We are still tallying up the donations and will announce the final number at the General Membership PTA meeting in November.

Special thanks to the committee, volunteers, and chairs; Celeste Ferreira & Brandi Seals. Your hard work and dedication is appreciated and we thank you for everything you have done for the Mabry Community!
Red Ribbon Week
This coming week is  Mabry's Red Ribbon Week. It is your child's pledge to make healthy choices and say no to drugs! Get excited because we have some awesome activities planned for your kids!
  • Monday - Wear red, white, and blue to show that you are a drug free citizen. Sign the drug free pledge and receive a spirit stick!
  • Tuesday - Put a lid on drugs by wearing your favorite hat.
  • Wednesday - Let's team up against drugs by wearing your favorite team jersey.
  • Thursday - Wear red to show your support in leading a drug free life.
  • Friday - Sock it to drugs and wear mismatched or crazy socks.
If You Support Our Schools, then VOTE!
Do you have questions about the general election ballot? If so, feel free to attend a Coffee with the Candidates Ballot Review at Wright's Gourmet House Tuesday, Oct 23rd from 9-10:30am. This is a free event, and it is open to the public. You can also review a  sample ballot here

Please remember to vote on or before November 6. There are many issues on the ballot that have direct impact on our schools.
New Addition to the Media Center
Mabry has added a Maker Space to the Media Center! Students may earn an incentive pass to visit and explore!

Have you cleaned out your craft cabinet lately?? Do you have any of these items at home that you can collect and donate: toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, empty clean milk jugs, cereal boxes, craft paper, craft paper with designs (scrapbook paper) art supplies of any kind, sketching pencils, cardboard, stickers, and any materials that kids can use to create!

If you want to learn more about what a Maker Space is, check   this  and  this  out.
A Message from the Front Office:
In an effort to minimize class disruption, the front office will no longer entertain the delivering of forgotten items after 7:40am (lunches, homework folders, sweatshirts, headbands, water bottles, hair bows, and hair ties; to name a few).

We need to instill responsibility and self-sufficiency through the natural consequences of forgetting. Our goal as educators and parents is to equip students for challenges that life brings. Allowing students to fail and problem solve on their own will teach them valuable lessons that they will in turn use throughout their youth and into adulthood.

Thank you for your support in teaching your student self-responsibility.
Spirit Night Friday!
This Friday, 10/26, is Mabry's Spirit Night. Join us at United Skates of America from 6-8om for a fun night of Halloween costume skating fun! $5 per person and 100% of the funds goes back to Mabry.
African-American and Ethnic Haircare Clinic
Parents of African-American or Ethnic children, are you interested in participating in a hair care clinic with your child? If so, please email Mabry mom, Shantanice Vaxter. The clinic will include information on how to manage your child's hair type, hair care products, natural hair styles, braids, extensions and more. Date TBD based on participants' availability.
