National School Counseling Week 2019:
Feb. 4-8, 2019
The week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), highlights the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and the tremendous impact they can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
 
School counselors help students in more ways than you realize. This week we celebrate  them as a part of National School Counseling Week 2019.

Candy Grams
Student Council and Mabry Elementary PTA are excited to announce the annual Candy Gram drive. This year, all the proceeds will go towards the Mabry Hydroponic Garden which delivers all the food grown to Meals on Wheels.  
 
Come to table in front of the school from 7:10-7:40 am on Feb 4th-7th FOR JUST A $1!
 
It could be for a friend, your parents, your teacher, or any member of the Mabry Family.  Parents, you can even send one to your child!  Student Council will attach a lollypop and deliver it on February 14th to the respective rooms.

Jump Rope for Heart
Going on now thru Feb 14 th .  This is a school wide fundraiser for the American Heart Association. For students in Grade 1 thru Grade 5, while at PE class, they will be learning how to jump rope while learning different way to maintain a healthy heart. Details HERE.
Play 60
Can you Play 60? Mabry is joining 2019 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Play 60 challenge, a program that educates elementary students about staying fit. The Challenge encourages students be physically active for 60 minutes every day - both at school and at home.  This year's challenge will run from February 1 - March 1 and is open to all FIFTH GRADE students.  

During the four week challenge, students will be asked to track their minutes of physical activity in and out of school - during P.E., recess, after school activities, walking the dog, dancing etc. - on a Student Activity Tracker form.  Each week, they will turn in the form to their teacher to be counted. The school with the highest average of active minutes wins a $1,500 in school P.E. equipment and a celebration with the Buccaneer players!  Check out an earlier Play 60 celebration  here.

Mabry is having a skate party!  United Skates of America on 5121 N Armenia Ave March 7th! Great event for the entire family. 
 
Moms night out!  Painting With a Twist at  2821 S. MacDill Ave. is hosting a night of fun and painting on  March 28 from 7-9. 50% will be donated back to Mabry!  Bring your own snacks and drinks and be ready for some fun! Spaces are limited click here to register!

Message from the front office
Strawbridge "Journey" pictures were sent home of all students who took a fall picture.  Please return unwanted photos to your child's teacher by February 8th.  If purchasing the photos, please include payment in the envelope provided and return it to your child's teacher.   Contact the front office if you have questions.
Box Top Winners!
Congratulations to Mr. Meyer's 2nd Grade Class for turning in the most box tops for the 2nd nine weeks and will receive an ice cream party!  Keep sending your box tops in for the 3rd nine weeks!

Mabry Alumni PTA Scholarship Now Available!
If you know a current high school senior that graduated from Mabry, please encourage them to apply for the Mabry PTA Alumni Scholarship. This $1000 scholarship will be awarded to one eligible senior. Applications can be found on the Mabry PTA website, and have also been sent to area high schools. The deadline to apply is April 1st.
