Mabry Minute for Week of 4/28/19
TODAY: Paint the Intersection
The big day has arrived! The intersection of Manhattan and Melrose will soon be home to the City of Tampa's latest neighborhood mural, and will be painted TODAY:

Sunday, April 28th, 2019, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Join us for a day of spending time with your neighbors as we help Tampa Murals artist, Robert Horning!

The surrounding roads will be closed and open to local traffic only during this time on the 28th. Those living on Melrose will be able to exit the neighborhood by heading west on Melrose and utilizing Hesperides. Roads will open again after 8 p.m. and will have no impact on car line traffic the following morning.

Also, we will be voting on key technology upgrades that have been requested by the Mabry administration. C urrent equipment is outdated and the proposal will include replacing classroom computers and projectors. Each teacher will choose between a new desktop or laptop computer, equipped with required programs and security features. The proposal will also include the ordering of Short Throw projectors for all  4th and 5th grade classrooms (3rd grade is currently being upgraded). Due to the time it takes for this technology project, we would look to order the items immediately.   If you have any questions, are interested in joining a committee, or would like to help administer these projects, please email  mabryptapresident@gmail.com .
Looking to get involved with the Mabry PTA for next year?
Have you considered being a chair or co-chair for one of the many programs or events put on by the PTA?  Some open positions are Business Sponsors, Grandparents breakfast, Staff appreciation etc. and some positions are looking for co-chairs. Inquiring does not necessarily mean commitment, so feel free to email Nikki at  mabryptapresident@gmail.com  for more info.

Safety Tip of the Week
The Pool. An adult should always be present. If it's a party hire a lifeguard or form a watch rotation - with a dedicated adult whose job is only to watch the pool. Make sure access is restricted. Make sure your child has had swim lessons even if you don't have a pool. We live in FL surrounded by bodies of water. The YMCA has discounted lessons for those in need.
