Learning through Wonder

MacLaren invites students of all ages to explore a rich curriculum with curiosity every day. Curriculum Days give students the opportunity to step outside the normal classroom pursuits and immerse themselves more deeply in a particular subject. Whether focused on history, literature, or culture, these days fill the halls with creativity and discovery.

In the Lower School, Curriculum Days add a sense of whimsy as students imagine life in other times and places, exploring cultures such as Ancient Greece and Ancient Egypt. Kindergarten students devote an entire day in April to beloved children’s authors. On this day they dress in costumes based on characters from books by Arnold Lobel, A.A. Milne, and E.B. White. Students enjoy activities and crafts that tie in with the stories they are reading.

Upper School students participate in these special days as well, including eighth-grade students who conclude their study of The Hobbit with a festive Hobbit Feast inspired by Tolkien’s world. At Medieval and French Feasts, students try different foods and discuss the history that surrounds the different delicacies.

Performing Arts through

Public Performance

Public Performance introduces sixth-grade students to the joys of the stage! This experience builds confidence and expression, serving as an important first step toward the full-length plays they will perform as juniors and seniors. Recently, sixth-grade girls performed Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass, where they brought Lewis Carroll’s characters to life with sincerity and imagination. 

Dancing the Night Away at

Spring Formal

Spring Formal brought together the juniors and seniors for an evening of good conversation and laughter. Students enjoyed a lovely three-course meal where they discussed fond memories from their years at MacLaren. This was followed by free-style dancing and dancing with partners. The students had a blast and enjoyed the photo booth and dancing the night away. 

Spring Fine Arts Night

Join us for the most highly anticipated night of the year! Spring Fine Arts Night is Friday, May 1, at the Pikes Peak Center. The doors open to guests at 5:30 p.m., and the show begins at 6:30 p.m. This is a free event; we hope to see you there!
