MacLaren Students Run for a Good Cause

The 15th-annual Tiny Lives Fun Run was the most successful one yet in terms of participation and funds raised. We had 253 participants total in three separate events: a Lower School run, 5K, and 1-mile walk. Over $4,000 was raised.

All proceeds of the Tiny Lives Fun Run benefit The Tiny Lives Foundation, an organization that supports the health of vulnerable infants in Lesotho.

This year, the Lower School run was held on the track. Students jumped over hay bales and hurdles and ran through a pool noodle obstacle and a water tunnel as they made their way around the track. MacLaren faculty, staff, and parent volunteers sprayed the children with water as they finished their laps, producing smiles and a little relief from the warm sun.

Thank you to all who participated and helped to make the Tiny Lives Fun Run a tremendous success!

Original Texts: Hallmark of a MacLaren Education

At MacLaren, a hallmark of our K-12 curriculum is an emphasis on reading original texts. By original texts, we mean original works of literature, not summaries, abridged versions, or versions that have been altered in order to be easier to read. We also mean primary source documents from history. Reading original texts is indeed the central focus of our Humane Letters courses, but students in every grade are introduced to original texts. From kindergarten to senior year, our students are exposed to rich works of literature and history.

Spotlight on Athletics, Clubs, and Socials at MacLaren

MacLaren recognizes that Athletics and Activities provide opportunities for children to grow and are an extension of the classroom. We are excited to offer a variety of options to students to pursue their interests and build relationships in our community.

This September, we participated in the inaugural Colorado Youth Sports Giving Day. The community raised $32,500 and much of that amount will be matched by local sponsors! All proceeds benefit MacLaren's Athletics program. Go Highlanders!
