On Tuesday evening, the Maccabi Ajax Cricket Club played its second game in the Southern Bayside Twenty20 competition, facing off with South Caulfield.
While Maccabi had a number of first team players unavailable, this provided an opportunity for a number of past players and club greats (Namely Leon Jacobs, Allan Sheffield and David Eckhaus) to don the blue and white once more.
South Caulfield wont the toss and opted to bat first. Zak Fleisher swapped the keeping gloves for the ball and took the first wicket for the Jackas. The first innings was hotly contested with wickets falling at regular intervals to stem the steady flow of runs. South Caulfield posted 6/144 after 20 overs. Fleisher the pick of the Ajax bowlers taking 3 wickets.
Maccabi's batting was no match for their stronger opposition, only managing 8/96 off the 20 overs. 17 year old young gun Amir Meyerowitz top scored with 23.
Maccabi Ajax play their game on Tuesday December 10th vs South Yarra @ Como Park.
