3 Jewish players start for Hume in the National Premier League
On Friday the 22nd of July 2018, three Jewish soccer players, Gidi Sweet, Bradley Blumenthal and Darby Dexter for the first time this season took the field together in Hume City’s NPL men’s starting XI against Melbourne Knights. A game which they won 3-2 and was made sweeter by Bradley Blumenthal scoring to help his side claim the 3 points.

Maccabi Victoria and Stand Up School Holiday Program
Our second school holiday program in partnership with Stand Up was held on Tuesday
3 rd of July at the the Springers Leisure Centre in Keysborough.
A fun and activity filled day with dancing led by Natasha Abrahams
By popular demand this second program was also soccer for mums and children, ably and provided by Gidi Sweet and Tim
Face painting, arts and crafts and a play area for the littlies.
Ajax Community Spirit
In the spirit of collaboration and investing in the Women’s team of tomorrow, Ajax Football Club has donated 35 Sherrin footballs to the Junior Girls team.      
Ajax senior women’s captain Chelsea Fisher and team manager Elyse Cherny, who are also coaches of the junior girls, are pictured after presenting them with the footballs at a wet and wintry training session.

Maccabi Victoria has donated some superseded uniforms to an underprivileged community in South Africa.

This photo is of a youth team in Moemaneng, Rural Free State playing in the 8 th anniversary DA Youth Tournament.
The young people are proud to be recipients of this matching kit and have learned about Melbourne Australia and the Maccabi values of Respect, Teamwork, Volunteerism and Community. 
Notice the soccer field is dirt and the children are wearing sneakers as they do not have soccer boo ts.

Are y  ou intere  sted in getting involved in one of the best events on the Maccabi Calendar?
We are calling for Expressions of Interest.
Junior Carnival is a week of fun filled sporting and social activities
 for 12-16 year old participants from all over Australia and New Zealand.
Youth leaders are required to have an understanding of
a number of sports and experience of youth leadership.
This is a child related position and will be subject to a Working with Children Check

With activities ranging from basketball to bowling, and diving to dance, 2018 has been a busy year for All Abilities. The first half of 2018 has showcased over 60 events, with more than half taking place in April-June.

The new book tells the story of the contribution Australian Jews have made to sport on and off the field and includes interviews with Michael Klinger, Todd Greenberg, Jessica Fox, Sir Frank Lowy, David Smorgon, Larry Kestleman and many more. (Melbourne Mitzvah Lodge)      
The Annual Grant is to honour the memory of the late Jenny Goldberg and to acknowledge her commitment, work, support and friendship she gave to Melbourne Mitzvah Lodge, B’nai B’rith and the Jewish Community.
Candidates may be nominated by individuals, or communal, educational, youth or sports organisations and/or other related community groups/activities.
A grant up to the value of $2,500 is offered, candidates much meet the following criteria:
·         resident in Victoria;
·          be Jewish up to 35 years of age;
·         demonstrate a commitment to community service and or volunteer involvement in areas such as: community organisations, youth groups, sports clubs, schools, universities, etc.;
·          Describe specifically how the Grant will be used to enhance the candidate’s volunteering ability and service to the community within Melbourne.

·         provide the names of two referees to support the application.
