One of the goals of the Maccabi Pathways Program is to develop, build on and oversee sporting activities and coaching offered to students at the schools. Maccabi is currently supporting an Athletics program at Bialik College as a preparation for the EISM Carnival, which will take place at the end of April. The program includes high jump, block starts, sprints, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus and 400m/800m/1500m races. The photos show some High Jump action as well as coach David Brock with Martin Jona (Pathways Program Coordinator).
Introducing Our New Women in Sport Board Member
We warmly welcome Caryn Kave to the board of Maccabi Victoria (Women in Sport portfolio). Caryn is extremely passionate about engaging more women and girls in Maccabi sport and physical activity and she’s excited about making an impact within the community.
Having been involved with Maccabi in some form or another for many years, primarily the netball club growing up, but in the football, soccer and cricket clubs more recently, as a parent. Caryn sees this as a great opportunity to give back to Maccabi and to use it as a platform to get more women and girls to become more engaged in Maccabi both on and off the field.
Professionally, Caryn is a qualified dietitian with a special interest in public health and disease prevention. She is currently working at AIA Australia, in the wellness strategy area. She is excited at the prospect of combining her personal passion for sport with her interest in health promotion.

Yom HaShoah Commemoration Project 2019
To mark Holocaust Memorial Day (Yom HaShoah) in 2019, the Jewish Holocaust Centre (JHC) is partnering again with Maccabi Australia to remember the atrocities of the Holocaust and to remember – “never again”. This April and May, numerous Maccabi sporting clubs across VIC, NSW, WA & QLD will undertake various commemorations to further raise the awareness of the Holocaust. We are reminded that just like the members of Maccabi today, many of the survivors and those that perished in the Holocaust were also avid sportsmen and women.
The message is simple: The only thing that separates them from you is time… they were #justlikeyou.
