Live Look From Israel
Maccabiah Daily Update: July 14, 2026

The competitions may be over, but the Maccabiah journey is far from complete. After two unforgettable weeks of representing the USA on the world stage, our Junior and Open delegation officially began the Israel Connect program today: a meaningful extension of the Maccabiah experience that shifts the focus from athletic achievement to personal growth, cultural exploration, Israel education, and lifelong connection.

Over the next week, our athletes will travel across Israel, visit historic and significant sites, engage with local communities, and experience the country beyond the arenas and playing fields. The friendships formed during the Games will continue to grow, and the memories created through Israel Connect will become another defining part of an incredible summer.

Visit to Anu Museum

Our delegation began the Israel Connect experience by exploring the Anu Museum of the Jewish People. Here, our athletes learned about prominent contemporary Jewish figures in art, music, literature, sports, and culture through engaging exhibits. Athletes also explored historical experiences of the Jewish people such as the founding of the State of Israel, escaping persecution, and the roots of the Ashkenazi and Sephardim.

These exhibits provided a foundation for how we frame the Jewish people in history, helping shape the future programs and experiences Israel Connect offers.

Shuk HaCarmel

The next stop on our journey was Shuk HaCarmel, where Maccabi USA athletes immersed themselves in one of Tel Aviv's most vibrant and iconic destinations. Wandering through the marketplace, our delegation sampled fresh Israeli favorites, picked up souvenirs, and explored colorful stalls filled with spices, baked goods, local produce, and handcrafted items. Every corner of the shuk offered something new to discover, giving athletes a true taste of Israeli culture and everyday life.

Beyond the shopping and incredible food, the afternoon was an opportunity to slow down, spend time with teammates, and experience the energy that makes Tel Aviv so special. It was a memorable final stop in Tel Aviv, blending culture, community, and connection.

Har Adar and Lookout Point

As we moved closer to Jerusalem, Har Adar gave our delegation the opportunity to take in one of Israel's most scenic viewpoints while learning more about the area's history. From the lookout point, athletes enjoyed panoramic views of the Judean Hills and surrounding communities, offering a unique perspective on the landscape they will continue to explore during Israel Connect.

The stop combined incredible scenery with meaningful educational experiences, giving athletes time to learn, ask questions, and better understand the region. It was another memorable day of exploring Israel and experiencing the country from a new point of view.

Israel Connect Welcome Event

We ended the first day of Israel Connect with an unforgettable welcome event that brought the delegation together for an evening of laughter, music, and reflection. Comedian Eitan The Goalie performed a stand-up routine and later on, DJ Artifex shared his story as the final artist to perform at the Nova Music Festival before the October 7 attacks. His firsthand account served as a moving reminder of Israel's resilience and the significance of beginning this next chapter of the Maccabiah journey by connecting more deeply with the people, stories, and spirit of Israel.

Following his story, DJ Artifex performed for our delegation, showcasing the power of music and that "we will dance again". We look forward to continuing our Israel Connect program, demonstrating the triumph, power, and unity of the Jewish community.
