The Macdonald-Laurier Institute has assembled a team of the world's best leading experts on security, defence and global affairs to draw attention to the major security issues Canada is facing around the globe.
The six-part Global Security Look Ahead project kicked off this month with an Inside Policy essay by Alex Wilner, a professor at Carleton University's Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, introducing the series.
The first papers are out now!
  • Edward Luttwak, an associate at the Center For Strategic And International Studies, on a new role for Canada in the Pacific
  • Stephen Saideman , Paterson Chair in International Affairs at Carleton University's Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, on the unpredictable Donald Trump

Cross also discussed technological advancement with BNN.

United States President Donald Trump's decision to push forward Keystone XL shows a profound shift in how North America will proceed with major infrastructure projects, says MLI Munk Senior Fellow Sean Speer.
The instability the recent presidential election delivered to American politics should be another push for Canada to boost its efforts to move into Asian markets, MLI Munk Senior Fellow Laura Dawson told CBC's The National.
"Canada no longer has the safety and security of the U.S. market and so a diversification strategy is really called for", says Dawson.

Agree or disagree?
Jack Granatstein (yay) and Noah Richler (nay) will hash out that question as part of another Great Canadian Debate, taking place March 28, 2017 at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa.
MLI Munk Senior Fellow Christian Leuprecht joined TVO's The Agenda to discuss the fallout from a series of high-profile terrorist attacks in 2016.
