And the 2017 Athena Award recipient is...


The Macomb Foundation hosted a crowd of over 170 on Friday, May 4, to honor the 12 nominees and hear the selection of Maggie Varney as the 2018 Athena Award Recipient.   Maggie runs two successful businesses: Go Green; a socially responsible and eco-friendly full service salon and Wigs 4 Kids; a non-profit that provides wigs and support to children experiencing hair loss as a result of illness & treatment.  Congratulations Maggie Varney!

Macomb County economic development team nets record results in 2017
 
 
As part of National Economic Development Week taking place May 7 through May 12, the Macomb County Department of Planning and Economic Development announced that in 2017, its clients invested more than $417.4 million in new equipment and space while retaining 2,140 jobs and creating 3,729 new ones. County business development staff provide free and confidential services to businesses of all sizes to help them thrive and grow within the region.
There's a Concert for Everyone this Summer at Partridge Creek

Join in the fun this summer, when the First State Bank Summer Sounds Concert Series delights the community with free concerts in The Mall at Partridge Creek's Center Court.

Jazz, rock, swing and acoustic music are all on tap; from the Sun Messengers to Rich Eddy's Rockin' Oldies, Dance Floor Crush to Vinyl Underground, Jon Smith Acoustic to Joey Vee Band, Kroon Duo to Detroit in Motion. It's time to get out of the sun and turn up the heat in the Center Court during these family-friendly, free concerts.

An Evening of Bicycles, Beasts and Beers at the Detroit Zoo

Bike Safari offers a special opportunity to ride your bicycle through the Detroit Zoo on a 2-mile trail while taking an after-hours look at your favorite animals and sampling beer   Each Bike Safari ticket includes a commemorative T-shirt, two 3-ounce beer samples, one complimentary post-ride beer for guests 21 and older and admission to the post-ride party.  The post-ride party in the Events Pavilion will feature live music, entertainment, food for purchase and more!  The course has a variety of surfaces and a combination of uphill and downhill portions, as well as tight turns and flat stretches. This event is for everyone, but for the safety of our guests each participant must ride their own bicycle.
USPBL Pitches New Kids Club Program

The United ShoreProfessional Baseball League is providing kids a unique fan experience to interact with their favorite players, coaches and mascots at Jimmy John's Field in historic downtown Utica, Mich., this summer. The 2018 USPBL Kids Club will feature two membership levels, Rookie and MVP, that are loaded with perks.
MSGCU  Announce Winners of High School Marketing Campaign Competition

Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union (MSGCU) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2018 High School Marketing Campaign Competition. This year, Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northeast, located in Pontiac, took first place in the competition with Troy Athens High School and Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northwest taking second and third places respectively.
