Air Show Success! 

It takes hundreds of people to coordinate an event that captures 100 years of aviation heritage and excellence. The Macomb Foundation is proud to have been a presenting partner for thecentennial show, and our membership really stepped up to make this one of the best yet to come. A hearty 'thank you' to all of our community partners, sponsors, volunteers and staff who worked so hard to make the Selfridge Air Show and Open House so incredible!

A survey link is available below and we'd appreciate your honest opinions on the ideas presented.  The survey has 15 questions and we expect responses to take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Walsh College Names Michael Rinkus Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer

Walsh College President and CEO Marsha Kelliher announced the appointment of Michael Rinkus, DBA, as executive vice president and chief academic officer of the College, effective Aug. 7.
Dr. Rinkus served as the interim executive vice president and chief academic officer since April 2016. In this role, Dr. Rinkus oversees academic standards, accreditation, and provides Walsh College with strategic and operational leadership to ensure the academic programs meet the needs of employers, faculty, staff, and students.
It's Back to School Time!

For the first time, Macomb Literacy Partners will be offering classes starting in Sept. 2017. Three levels will be offered for adult learners. They are also offering homework helpers for the children of our adult students. 
For students, the new program offers more learning hours. For tutors, it offers more flexibility: volunteer 2 or 4 hours/week, no lesson planning, 12 week commitment, work with adults or children in a classroom setting.

Macomb County executive moves forward with seventh consecutive balanced budget

Macomb County Executive Mark A. Hackel submitted his seventh annual balanced budget to the county's Board of Commissioners on Aug. 18 for approval.  The county's proposed 2018 general fund budget totals $228.9 million, with 100 percent of operating expenses fully covered by forecasted revenues. In addition, and as planned, the budget allocates a portion of the fund balance to the county's capital project fund to address much needed upgrades and replacements to its infrastructure.

Macomb Community College awarded $1.1M grant from Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation for training and educational outreach 

The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation has awarded Macomb Community College a $1.1 million grant to help create systemic change in educational attainment, employment and income in south Macomb County. The PRISM (Prosperity Reaches into Southern Macomb) Project will support training for adults in advanced manufacturing, outreach to introduce and engage high school students in information technology fields, and a pilot on enhancing employer engagement in sustaining workforce training programs.
