Macomb County to be awarded $97.8 million to help rebuild Mound Road
 
The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded Macomb County a $97.8 million grant toward the $185 million cost to rebuild Mound Road from I-696 to M-59, including construction of two skywalks and additional lanes north of 17 Mile Road. "This is a big deal," Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel said. Other specific improvements include landscaping, lighting, signs, driveway controls, bike path, connections to trail network and improvements to transit stops. It would be equipped with computerized traffic signal systems, real-time traffic speed monitoring, cameras and communications to signals.
Celebrate the Lake 2018
Macomb County and St. Clair County officials got together on Wednesday, June 6 to speak on the state of Lake St. Clair. Officials spoke about projects to protect the environment, encourage commercial investment and to highlight upcoming events around and on around Lake St. Clair; including MacRay's own Annual  " Celebrate the Lake " event in on Saturday, June 9.

Macomb County seeks hosts and sponsors for Manufacturing Day 
Event to benefit an estimated 2,500 high school students

Macomb County will once again host a coordinated event to coincide with national Manufacturing Day on Friday, October 5.  The event provides an opportunity for high school students to visit area advanced manufacturing facilities to see the industry in action and meet people who make things.

Commitments from companies that would like to get involved are being accepted now. Host sites are asked to offer a 90-120 minute guided tour for a group of students and teachers. 

The planning committee will host a mandatory orientation breakfast on Thursday, September 20 from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.  The breakfast offers tips for hosting a successful tour and an opportunity to meet with school personnel who will coordinate the visit.

'Zoom to the Zoo' with a New SMART - and Sustainable - Transit Option
Be green and save green, one bus ride at a time

The Detroit Zoological Society (DZS) and SMART are protecting the environment one bus ride at a time - while improving accessibility for Detroit Zoo-goers - with a new partnership called "Zoom to the Zoo".  Beginning June 1 through September 30, a busload of perks awaits those who take advantage of the SMART FAST Woodward express service with a stop at the Detroit Zoo.
Each visitor who rides the SMART FAST bus to the Zoo will receive a $2 discount on Zoo admission (with proof of their ride shown at the gate), a wristband for free fountain drinks at Zoo concessions on the day of their visit and a free return bus ride.  Guests who Zoom to the Zoo with pre-paid admission tickets will receive a free ride on the wildlife Carousel.
