The Macomb Bicentennial Torch Relay
TODAY - The Macomb County Bicentennial Torch Relay kicked off at 5:40 a.m. in Mount Clemens. Runners will make their way through every community in the county, traversing 200 miles of Macomb County to celebrate 200 years of Macomb County. The relay will be ending in downtown Mount Clemens for the Mount Clemens Independence Day Fireworks at 9:45 p.m. on Friday. Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel will run the first 1-mile leg followed by roughly thirty other distinguished torchbearers to carry the torch as the relay moves through their communities.  Check out the full  route here.

Detroit Zoological Society Receives Grant for Great Lakes Nature Center
Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Family Foundation pledges $2 million

The waterfront attraction will be built on a yet-to-be-named site in Macomb County and will focus on the water and wildlife of the Great Lakes.
The center will be the largest nature attraction dedicated solely to the Great Lakes.  There will also be emphasis on conservation efforts and habitats for other endangered species such as native amphibians, reptiles, small mammals, shorebirds and birds of prey.  The facility will be more than 25,000 square feet and construction is expected to begin next year. 
Macomb Community College to offer Tesla START training program for automotive service technicians
Information session for new program scheduled for June 26
Macomb Community College will launch an automotive service technician training program from electric vehicle manufacturer, Tesla, this fall. This intensive 12-week technical training program is designed to provide students with the skills necessary for job placement as service technicians at Tesla Service Centers, which are located across the country. Macomb is the third community college in the United States to offer the program.

Church of Christ Care Center Fundraiser
Saturday, September 15 at 9 a.m.

The 11th Annual Care Center Golf Classic will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018. The outing will have a shotgun start around 9:00 a.m. at The Orchards in Washington Twp.  The cost is $135, but early bird price is $120 the cut off for that is August.  All proceeds this year will go towards building a new porte-cochere at the Church of Christ Assisted Living - which is a new covered entryway into the building! Join us in this worthy cause!
