The Macomb County Chamber's Public Policy Committee met with Representative Bill Sowerby at its monthly meeting this week.  Thanks to Rep. Sowerby for sharing his thoughts on current issues affecting the county and our businesses, as well as his current bills with our active committee!

Santa's Arrival at Macomb Mall

Macomb Mall is excited to welcome Santa Claus back from the North Pole and to his magical lodge on Friday, November 17! This free and fun-filled event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. with something for everyone in the family to enjoy.  This year's event will kick off with a welcoming parade lead by Roseville High School's Marching Band. Local teachers receive more than $46,000 in classroom cash grants from MSGCU

Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union (MSGCU) is excited to announce its 63 Classroom Cash Grant Recipients for 2017. These educators are from local Michigan elementary, middle and high schools.  The grants, worth up to $750 each, help with the implementation of innovative projects and learning experiences in the classrooms. Projects include flexible seating and sensory resources that encourage collaborative exchanges, interactive reading systems and technology enhancements and many others that foster students' exploration, independent thinking and problem solving. In total, MSGCU is awarding $46,686 to 41 schools from across the Metro Detroit area.

Anton Art Center hosts annual holiday artist market

The Anton Art Center's Holiday Market: Silver Bells will feature unique, one-of-a-kind gifts and holiday d├ęcor created by over 130 Michigan fine artists and crafters, and will be open to the public from November 17 - December 22, 2017. It is the premiere shopping event for locally hand-crafted holiday goods; including everything from fine ceramics & jewelry pieces to pantry items and stocking stuffers!  Be sure to check out for a complete listing of activities, workshops and special events related to this year's Holiday Market!
FreeStar Financial Credit Union honors veterans

FreeStar Financial Credit Union, established in 1957 at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, is recognizing veterans all month at its four branches by posting photos members submitted of themselves or their loved ones who have served in the armed forces. Stories of heroism and survival have poured in with the photos, which will remain on display through Nov. 30.
