Wood Shaving Sales Opportunity During Fair Week
Macomb County 4-H Families:
The Armada Fair Board has offered Macomb County 4-H an incredible opportunity to sell wood shavings during fair week as a fundraiser. However, we need to have people willing to run it all week.

The Macomb County 4-H Youth Council is looking for a responsible person/team to ensure that the sale will be open for the duration of the fair. This team would need to have a representative available in the early morning when the animal pens are being cleaned out. Once the Coffee Cart is open outside the 4-H barn, sales could be conducted from there throughout the day.

This could be an incredible opportunity for Macomb County 4-H to raise money to continue offering scholarships to 4-H Exploration Days and other 4-H camps. And, of course, this would be a great chance for several people to work together and rack up some major community service hours. If anyone is interested, please contact me at gottadancegirl@gmail.com and I can provide further information.

Spring 2016 4-H Paper Clover Campaign - April 13-24
The Spring 2016 4-H Paper Clover Campaign is April 13-24, 2016. In partnership with Tractor Supply Company (TSC), the bi-annual 4-H Paper Clover fundraiser invites customers to donate $1 or more at checkout, supporting local 4-H programs across the country. Support 4-H from April 13-24 at two Macomb County locations:

66143 Van Dyke
Washington, MI 48095
57155 Gratiot Avenue

Your involvement in the 4-H Paper Clover fundraiser is important. Counties with club and individual
4-Her involvement receive significantly more in donations. Participating 4-H clubs can enter a sweepstakes drawing for a chance to win a $150 TSC or $100 4-H Mall gift card. Making $en $e of Money for People of All Ages
On the National Financial Educators Council's web site, it observes that: "Money is a fact of everyday life, and learning to manage money well is critical to achieving freedom, independence, and success."Yet, while financial education and money management are important, it can be difficult to find good resources to discuss saving, spending, sharing and preserving money with our children and youth.
April is Financial Literacy Month. Originally the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) (pronounced knée-fee) began this observance as Financial Literacy for Youth Day. It was an activity of NEFE's High School Financial Planning Program. When NEFE turned Financial Literacy Day over to the  Jump$tart Coalition, that organization expanded the program and its final change was from one day to a month designated to recognize the need for financial literacy for individuals of all ages. With this year's theme, "Envision a Financially Literate Future,"the Jump$tart Coalition seeks to acknowledge the importance of preparing young people for their future. In 2016, Money Smart Week will be held from April 23 to 30.
Michigan 4-H Youth Development offers many opportunities for young people to learn about personal finance, including fund-raising for their club or a community service project, participating in clubs dedicated to investment, and selling their own entrepreneurial products or their own market animal at the fair. There is a Michigan 4-H Youth Money Management web site filled with:
  • News articles. For example, did you know there is a retirement account that young people can set up?
  • Upcoming events. This includes 4-H Exploration Days, which will feature six sessions in all (including everything from coin collecting and thinking through buying a first car to how to spend money without risk) and
  • A collection of important resources. Since teaching money skills to people starting at the very early stages of life is important, did you know this web site points to a collection of 53 activities based around children's literature that has money as a theme?
