Macon-Bibb County School District Receives Recognition

The Bibb County School District recently received the Districts of Distinction award by the District Administration in recognition for their initiative of "Building a Future-Ready Community.” The basis of this initiative was a Mock Interview Fair, which allowed students the opportunity to connect with local businesses and learn important skills for obtaining employment. The program included assistance with resume and cover letter writing, completing an application, and then participating in an interview. Over 7,500 middle and high school students have benefited from the program, which began in 2012. During that time, the district’s graduation rate jumped from 52.3 percent to 77.1 percent. Middle Georgia State University Lowers Online Tuition Cost

Middle Georgia State University recently announced that tuition for online courses will be lowered by over 10 percent beginning in Fall 2018. Online courses have traditionally carried higher costs in universities throughout Georgia due to the software and other equipment needed to create the courses and proctor tests. Online students will save $19 per credit hour, savings of nearly $60 for three credit hour courses. Learn more below.
Tour Historic Macon Landmarks From Anywhere

Back in 2016, members of the Ocmulgee National Monument Association, NewTown Macon, and Macon-Bibb Parks and Recreation used a Google Street View Trekker to capture views of some of Macon’s most historic landmarks. Now, virtual tours of Ocmulgee National Monument, Rose Hill Cemetery, Fort Hawkins, and Amerson River Park are available on Google Maps and can be viewed from anywhere in the world. Learn more about the work that went into capturing these views below.
