Macon-Bibb County School District Receives Recognition

The Bibb County School District recently received the Districts of Distinction award by the District Administration in recognition for their initiative of "Building a Future-Ready Community.” The basis of this initiative was a Mock Interview Fair, which allowed students the opportunity to connect with local businesses and learn important skills for obtaining employment. The program included assistance with resume and cover letter writing, completing an application, and then participating in an interview. Over 7,500 middle and high school students have benefited from the program, which began in 2012. During that time, the district’s graduation rate jumped from 52.3 percent to 77.1 percent. Now, virtual tours of Ocmulgee National Monument, Rose Hill Cemetery, Fort Hawkins, and Amerson River Park are available on Google Maps and can be viewed from anywhere in the world. Learn more about the work that went into capturing these views below.
