On March 7, 2018, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit ruled in
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission v. R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Homes Inc.
that Title VII of the Civil Rights Act protects “transgender” persons from employment discrimination. This case involves a man whose employment at a funeral home was terminated when he informed his employers that he was going to being dressing as a woman and “transitioning.”
