Spa Day for Pups—Careers for People
In March 2024, Joybound People & Pets broke ground for an innovative career-training program and pet service, the Joybound Dog Grooming Academy, funded in part by the Engelstad Foundation, a longtime advocate and supporter of Joybound People & Pets.
The grooming academy is now open and the public is invited to bring their dogs of all sizes, shapes, breeds, and ages to Joybound for a professional mani-pedi, bath and brushing, and all around styling by academy students in training and experienced, professional instructors and groomers to help make their family pets look and feel their best.

Candidates Forum
On Tuesday, September 10, 8–10am, five candidates running for three open seats for Walnut Creek City Council will join together at the Walnut Creek Library for a live, in-person Candidates Forum, presented by the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce. Slated to appear are candidates Cindy Darling, Craig DeVinney, Brendan Moran, Laura Patch, and Kevin Wilk.

Calicraft is Growing!
Calicraft Brewing Co. has expanded its family with the acquisition of Heretic Brewing and Distillery of Fairfield, California, a popular legacy brand known for its creativity and craftsmanship, as well as its fan base and numerous awards in the craft beer community.

Sharing Your Opinions Could Net You $500 | |
A regional Walnut Creek coalition of business organizations is conducting a survey to help each organization address the needs of local businesses and nonprofits. The results gathered from the survey will help member organizations better advocate for local and regional businesses, and put in place policies and procedures that respond to Walnut Creek’s diverse and ever expanding business landscape.
All respondents who provide their name and email address at the end of the survey are entered for a chance to win $500!

Free Swim Playdate for Little Ones,
September 4
American Swim Academy, located in the Shadelands SportsMall, is hosting a special Free Swim ‘n' Play day on Wednesday, September 4, for babies and toddlers 6-33 months of age, and the public is invited.
This is the perfect opportunity for little ones to enjoy a fun-filled play date in the water in a safe, friendly environment, making new friends and experiencing the joy of swimming.

Step Into Walnut Creek's History
On the 2nd Saturday of the month, the Walnut Creek Historical Society offers free 60–90-minute docent-led history tours of downtown Walnut Creek, stopping at historical points of interest and establishments with storied pasts. The final two tours of 2024 are September 14 and October 12. You’ll be amazed at how much history you stroll past on every visit to downtown Walnut Creek.
