Nominations Accepted Now for
Family Physician of the Year
Each year the MAFP accepts nominations for the John B. Howell Memorial Award, given to the physician contributing the most to the development of family medicine in the state. Award nominations are accepted from now until June 10.

Residents, Students Elected by Peers
to Serve on MAFP Board, Foundation Board
Four residents and four students, representing all four of Mississippi's family medicine residencies and both of Mississippi's medical schools, have been elected to a 1-year term on the MAFP Board and MAFP Foundation Board. They were elected by their peers at the MAFP Spring Fling in April after meeting qualifications and campaigning for the office. Meet the new up-and-comers on the Board.

MAFP Officers Make Personal Contacts
to Encourage
Membership Renewal
Thanks to MAFP Officers for making personal calls to remind members to renew their membership during a break at the AAFP Annual Chapter Leader Forum and National Conference of Constituency Leaders, held April 26-28. Above from left are officers: MAFP Secretary David Wheat, MD; Vice President Katherine Patterson, MD; and President Sue Simmons, MD. Every member is important to the MAFP, and because of our officers and their phone calls, we received at least a dozen renewals.

AAFP Launches #StayWellSoon Campaign
Next week, the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) is taking hundreds of family physicians to Washington for a Family Medicine Advocacy Summit. In connection with this event, Tuesday, May 23 has been designated as the National Day of Action to promote family medicine. AAFP members will be visiting Capitol Hill and hammering home the Stay Well Soon message.
AAFP is asking physicians to post a Stay Well Soon message on their Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr accounts. It's as simple as visiting the site and clicking on the red button to post the 'postcard' pictured above to your social media wall at a designated time on May 23.
