When the pandemic took over in 2020, with no options for live performances, chant artists Madi Das and Dave Stringer began writing together, zooming weekly, swapping ideas. The music from these sessions was fresh and unique, eastern chants with an Appalachian twang, Sanskrit with soul! Together they dug into their backgrounds -- Madi having grown up in India, Dave with his Southern roots – and created a sound that became Mantra Americana. The result is a blend that is unapologetically modern yet rooted in tradition. It is a sound that bridges genre, language, and culture.
