Meet the Board!

Carissa Amundson, Chapter Secretary

Each month, we will feature a different member of our Board of Directors. This month, get to know our Chapter Secretary, Carissa Amundson. If you'd like to get involved, email madisonlpgaamateurs@gmail.com.

Q1: How and when did you start golfing?

A: I started golfing the summer before high school. Due to injury, I was no longer able to play basketball and wanted to play a high school sport. I had always been interested in golf. I convinced my parents to buy a half set of golf clubs, a few lessons and the rest as they say, is history!

Q2: When did you join the LPGA Amateurs and how long have you been on the Board of Directors?

A: I joined LPGA Amateurs in 2022 and this will be my first year on the board.

Q3: What is your favorite golf memory?

A: In 2024, I shot my first hole in one! (Secretly hoping the next one doesn’t take as long!).

Q4: What is one of your golf goals for this year?

A: My golf goal for the coming year is to improve my handicap and make more time for practice.

Q5: What is your favorite thing about the Madison chapter?

A: I enjoy getting to meet other women golfers in the area and the friendships that I’ve made over the last couple of years.

Q6: What do you enjoy doing when you’re not golfing?

A: When I’m not golfing, you can find me volunteering as an AEMT/EMS Lieutenant for my local fire department, wrangling my 2 German Shorthaired Pointers or spending time with family and friends.

League Updates for 2025

We are happy to announce that 2024 leagues run by the LPGA Amateurs Madison Chapter will be returning this year. Visit the league website for details on all of our 2025 leagues, including prices, level of play expectations, and course information. We are updating this page regularly as we finalize details for the 2025 season, so check back regularly!

A few small changes to the Monday Traveling League and the University Ridge League are summarized below, with the goal of increasing participation and enjoyment for our members.

Monday Traveling League Changes:

  • $25 registration fee to cover weekly prizes and end of season party
  • Monthly sign-up instead of full season advance sign-up to reduce cancellations/no-shows

University Ridge League Changes:

  • Players will be asked when registering if they are an advanced or intermediate player
  • Players will be grouped by ability level, with advanced players teeing off first to set pace of play
  • See below for expectations for intermediate vs advanced play

We offer leagues for every skill level, so please consider your level of play when registering. The level of play for each league is included in the league descriptions on our website. Below is a guide to the expectations of play for the different types of leagues.

Beginner/Learner - New to golf, just getting back into golf, and/or looking for a combination of golf and instruction.

Intermediate - Can navigate around the golf course and keep up with the pace of play. May or may not keep score and prefers a more social round.

Advanced - Can keep up with pace of play on difficult courses (2 hours for 9 holes). Please be mindful that it can be difficult to keep your pace of play if you are hitting into trouble areas and/or hazards regularly. If you regularly have to pick up to keep pace of play, a lower level league may be more appropriate for you.

Competitive - Keeps score according to the USGA Rules of Golf and maintain pace of play in a competitive golf environment. There is no handicap limit, but players are expected to maintain an accurate and up-to-date USGA handicap index. This includes posting all eligible league rounds after play each week.

Eraser Tournament Returns on May 17 and September 7

Meadows of Sixmile Creek

The Eraser Tournament is returning in 2025 after a successful inaugural year in 2024. This unique tournament crowns the season's most improved player, with the first round played on May 17 and the second round played on September 7.

This tournament is perfect for players who are new to competitive play and want a fun environment to learn the ropes of tournament play.

On Day 1, players will record their individual stroke play score to establish their starting score. On Day 2, players will try to 'erase' their Day 1 scores on each hole and replace it with a better score! Each player's lowest score between the 2 days on each hole will combine for a single 18-hole eraser score. Awards will be given for most improved player (ie, most strokes erased) and low net and gross eraser score. Players may be flighted by handicap depending on the number of participants.

Players should have an established USGA/WSGA handicap. Registration will open approximately 1 month before Day 1!
