Madison Messenger - May 2025

Principal Message

Madison Families,

As we welcome the month of May, it’s hard to believe we have just about seven weeks left in the school year! Spring has brought sunshine, energy, and so many exciting opportunities for our students. We’re looking forward to a joyful stretch ahead filled with end-of-year celebrations, field trips, and special moments together, including McTeacher Night on May 14th and our annual field day and school BBQ in June.

At the same time, we remain focused on strong, high-quality instruction—ensuring every student continues learning and growing right up through the last day. Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to finish the year on a high note!

May is also when our 3rd through 5th graders get to show what they have learned on our state tests. Testing starts at the beginning of May and will wrap up before Memorial Day Weekend. You play a vital role in helping your child feel confident and ready for testing. Here are some ways you can support your child during testing:

  • Get a good night’s sleep: a well-rested mind is better able to focus and perform.
  • Eat a healthy breakfast: a nutritious meal in the morning fuels the brain and helps with concentration. Students can arrive 30 minutes before school for a FREE breakfast.
  • Arrive on time: being at school on time helps reduce stress and sets a positive tone for the day.
  • Encourage your child: a few kind words of encouragement can go a long way in boosting confidence.
  • Avoid scheduling appointments: please try to avoid any planned absences during testing days.

Remember, your feedback and thoughts are always welcomed. If you have questions or comments, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Late Students/ Breakfast at School

We have seen an increase in the number of late students each day. When students are late, they miss out on valuable instruction time and morning announcements. Please have your students to school by 8:25AM each day (9:25AM on Mondays). Breakfast is served each day until 10AM, however if your student is wanting to have school breakfast, please try to have them arrive at 8AM (9AM on Mondays) so they can eat with friends in the lunchroom. We appreciate your help.

Toothsavers!

Toothsavers will be at Madison on 04/30. Students who saw Toothsavers this fall will automatically be seen on this day. If you would like to sign up for toothsavers please register online using the link below.

Birthday Parties/ Celebrations

Due to food allergies, health diagnosis, and cultural beliefs please refrain from sending food items to school for your child. If you would like to bring something, please check with the teacher. We recommend nonfood items such as pencils or stickers or a small craft for the kids to do.

If your child wishes to invite students to a party outside of school, please do not have them distribute invitations at school (unless it is for the whole class) as this causes hurt feelings and does not create a sense of belonging. Please work with the classroom teacher on how they would like to support you to invite some students.
