Mohawk Morning News Broadcast!
Tune into our Madison Mohawk Broadcast! Here is a recap from our morning news from this past Friday for our parents and e-learning students.

Message from the Principal's Desk...
Madison Families,

I want to say thank you for your support this past week. We had an amazing first week of school in the building here at Madison Middle School. The students reported to school abiding by the rules of social distancing and listened closely to the directives of their teachers. I want to applaud parents for speaking with their children regarding the importance of social distancing and sanitation practices. We rolled out our morning school program and started groups of students in participating with tutoring before school. Students worked very well with their teachers and followed transitions wonderfully within the first week.

We had our first Parent Academy meeting on last week. We had the opportunity to begin our e-learning training with parents and discuss areas of support needed for our e-learning students. We received lots of feedback to provide to our teams that we were able to build our support for our e-learning students. From our parent feedback we have a few new support items that we have included in our newsletter. Our support will extend to weekly parent meetings for the next few weeks for technical support training for parents and also increased technical support for students. We have also convened a team of support personnel just for our e-learning student population. In addition, we are adding e-tutoring to support our students and help them acclimate to their distance classes.

We look forward to meeting with all of our parents this week in our parent academy on Wednesday at 5:30pm online.

Testing This Week:
This week we are completing our school-wide progress monitoring. We will be completing our progress monitoring assessments on this week with all Madison students. We utilize this assessment process as a tool for determining where students are performing academically and to quantify student learning needs. Please ensure that students are in attendance this week. Our E-Learning students will receive instruction regarding completing assessments from home for reading assessments and appointments for completing math assessments in person on campus after school from our testing coordinator, Mrs. Trahan on this week.

Parent Academy

Our parent academy was a tremendous opportunity for us to learn and gain insight from our families. We are very appreciative of the feedback and support from our parents that participated in the online academy. Our parents shared areas of needed support for our e-learners that we were able to share with our instructional teams on last week. Based on our parent recommendations, our e-learners would like to share more in the campus-based experience in classes and school activities. We are working on before and after school activities for e-learners.

In addition, parents requested to meet in the parent academy weekly to be able to understand all of the platforms used in our e-learning school. Our session concluded with planning for our PTO that will be starting for Madison very soon. We will send out information to parents interested in serving on Madison's newly organized PTO very soon.

We have set a tentative meeting date set for our next Parent Academy session for Wednesday, September 2nd @ 5:30pm sharp. We will place the link on our facebook page and website.

What’s New @ Madison
Parents, I want you to know that we hear you and we are committed to supporting you through both e-learning and on campus instruction. Effective immediately, we have convened a team that wants to work directly with our e-learners. We have selected an administrator for our e-learning and several members to work directly with our e-learning school.

Registration for e-tutoring for all e-learners by registration request will begin on Monday, August 31st. Students who have struggled with connection issues will be allowed to work with teachers in small group for additional instruction to help them with their assignments.
We have selected a brand-new support team for our e-learner program at Madison to include:

Mr. Micah McCullough, Innov8 academy & E-learning Director, Please feel free to contact him for direct support for the E-learning program at Mccullough.Micah@BrevardSchools.org

  • Mrs. Hiu Wong, E-learning technical support/ Real time tech support via Text Tech Support at 321-300-4213 or Wong.Hiu@BrevardSchools.org . Appointments to meet with a tech for students needing technical support, please e-mail Mrs. Wong our technology support team member directly or contact us at the school for an e-learning support appointment.

Our District Policy requires schools to allow only the first registering parent to check out a student from school. In cases where the registering parent requests another family member on the students list to check out a student, the first registering parent must be called to verify and approve check out per district policy. To help with this new rule, we are implementing a early checkout form that will be available on our website. This form will allow the first registering parent to pre-notify and verify check out with the Front Office prior to the scheduled check out. This will allow parents to quickly retrieve students and have a seamless pick up for appointments.
