Parent Teacher Conferences
As was communicated last week, Parent Teacher Conferences is evolving just as the rest of what we do in our schools. We value the partnerships we have with each and every family and the open communication we maintain.
Please see THIS district communication for more information. Thank you!
Outdoor Learning
We are so blessed to have so much space available for learning outside. Every classroom has utilized the space in one way or another. As a building we have created a plan that we are working on to further develop our outdoor spaces! Be watching for future updates.
Lois Lowry!
Acclaimed author Lois Lowry will be the featured speaker at this year’s Morter Lecture, an annual event sponsored by the First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee (FUSM). Due to the pandemic, this year’s lecture will be live streamed on Saturday evening, October 3.

Ms. Lowry is best known for her many books for young people, including her Newbery Prize winners The Giver and Number the Stars. Many of her books address complex issues that children and teens grapple with as they do the hard work of becoming adults.

Although you may not be familiar with Ms. Lowry’s work, very likely the children in your life are. Ask them to share their thoughts about the Lois Lowry books they’ve read. You may want to read the book(s) yourself!

Ms. Lowry’s lecture, “Dwelling in Possibility,” will explore the strength, wisdom, and energy we can gain at this moment when we are confined to our homes.

The lecture is free but advance registration is required. Use the links below.

And please join us for this lively virtual gathering.
  • Live lecture by Lois Lowry
  • Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 7 p.m. (WI time)

Magee is holding a Mum Sale again this year! Woodridge Landscapes has dropped off over 150 Mums in front of Magee.

Each plant is $7.  Half of the proceeds from the sale will be donated back to Magee to use for outdoor learning and other student focused projects!

There is a box in the front lobby where you can place payment. Checks can be made to Woodridge Landscapes or cash in an envelope is great too! We will not be able to provide change.

Thank you so much to Woodridge Landscapes and Lee Schroedl for making this possible!

Thank you for your support!

Exciting News! The Delafield Library is happy to announce the re-opening of the Children's Library! Access will be available during regular library open hours (Monday - Friday from 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM) for brief, purposeful visits. Come in to peruse their many special collections and ask for their expert Children's librarians for recommendations.

You could also place a hold on one of our book bundles! These are the newest addition to our Children's Library and created according to your child's tastes. You may pick it up at the front desk or outside during your Curbside appointment.

Dear KM Families,

The Department of Public Instruction released news that USDA Reimbursable Meals will continue through the end of 2020 or until available funds run out. The Kettle Moraine School District looks forward to participating in this program for both our face-to-face and distance learning students. As we work to ensure that our serving process meets USDA and DPI requirements, we ask for your patience and support.

Face-to-Face Students
As you might have noticed during the first week of school, KMSD students are being charged $0 for a lunch meal.  These meals are fully reimbursable by the USDA provided that the food purchased meets the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) guidelines.
If your child purchases individual items without a fruit/vegetable or milk, they will be charged for the item(s) as this purchase does not qualify for reimbursement. To ensure that your child gets a free meal, they will need to ensure that they have taken all of the components of a reimbursable meal. KMSD Nutrition Services staff will be on hand to remind your child(ren) if they do not have all of the components of a reimbursable meal.

For the time being, lunch checkout will occur as normal. When your child purchases a reimbursable meal, they will be charged $0 if they have all of the components. Ala-carte items and seconds will continue to be made available for purchase at a cost to the student/family. Please NOTE: At the elementary level: Milk for cold lunch students is not part of this program and will be charged to the student account.

If you have any questions, please contact Lindsay Johnson, Finance Manager, johnsonl@kmsd.edu

MAGEE KINDNESS ROCKS

The Magee PTO has started a Kindness Rock Project. They will be creating and hiding rocks for families to hunt for. Look for them on Facebook at Magee Kindness Rocks. When families find them, there is a bin outside of the school office for students to bring them in. The rocks will be used to line the paths in the Butterfly Garden. What a great way to spread kindness and beautify our butterfly garden! Happy Hunting!
Thank you for your patience with our
new drop off and pick up routines.
Please drive SLOWLY anytime in parking lot,
especially around corners.
