One School, One Book
Great News! One School, One Book is coming back to Magee! Our generous PTO has purchased a book for each family and staff member. We will be revealing the book’s title at the end of the day on Wednesday, April 13th. Books and the reading calendar will go home that day. For those of you that are new to Magee, One School, One Book is a community shared reading event. We ask that you read this book aloud at home with your family and all of us here at Magee will be reading the book as well. Classrooms will be engaging the students in the book along the way and there will be trivia questions weekly on announcements.

This is a novel program in which children of all grade levels will all be listening to the same book. Strange or daring as that may seem, it actually makes sound educational sense. Reading professionals recommend reading material out loud that is beyond a child’s own reading level. We also believe that you can and should continue reading chapter books with your older children, even when they are able to read by themselves. We have selected a title that can be followed and understood and enjoyed by younger students, but will still captivate and stimulate older children.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Kim Jones, Library Media Specialist or Laurel Hopkins, Instructional Coach.

“When a whole school reads a book, there’s a lot to talk about.”

Join the KMMS Family Advisory Workshop -
Elementary families (especially those in the upper grades) are invited to join a KMMS Family Listening Session / Workshop this coming Wednesday, April 13th at 6:30 p.m. at KMMS. We will provide a summary of some of the issues facing our school now and in the future, and seek your input and feedback on those issues. It will be a great opportunity to learn some things and provide your input as we look ahead to our middle school's future. Come prepared to interact with other KM families and teachers.
