Weekly Message from Principal Nies

Happy Friday Magee Families:

We had a jammed packed week here at Magee Elementary.  There are videos and images for you to enjoy.  Here is what took place:

  • 5th Grade Graduation/Promotional Ceremonies have begun.  On May 5th, our 5th graders and families enjoyed a dinner together with a special video created by Jennifer Anderson-Pells.  Then the 5th graders had their own movie night enjoying the movie "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone". Thank you to the PTO for donating the pizza for the night.  Thank you to Jamie Weinkauf, Kim Scott, Karli Olson, and Maggie Jimenez for organizing this special dinner.  Also, thank you to those who baked desserts and donated the water, soda, and gatorade.

  • Mr. Suhr's 4th grade class raised the most money for Penny Wars at our Spring Book Fair and they go to tape me to the wall.  All of the Magee Learners had the opportunity to come into the hallway to watch the 4th graders do this. There was a lot of laughter and smiles!

  • We continued to learn and grow in the Habits of Mind, specifically: Creating, Imagining, Innovating.  We also started to learn more about inspirational Asian American Pacific Islanders during Asian American Pacific Islander Month.

  • Today, our Magee Staff had the pleasure of professional learning from Paige Richards of the Mathematics Institute of Wisconsin.  Our learning was focused around "Using Children's Literature to Support Mathematical Understanding" because math happens every where!

  • Magee Elementary was featured on Milwaukee Public Television during the show 10ThirtySix on May 5th at 7 PM.  I am working with the production crew of the show to obtain a link for those who may not have gotten to see it. Once I receive it, I will share with all. We were able to celebrate teacher appreciation and our teachers at Magee on this segment.

  • We all had the absolute honor to celebrate our amazing staff at Magee this week during teacher appreciation week. Thank you to the PTO and families who helped us make this week of celebration so special for our amazing teachers.
