Weekly Message from Principal Nies

Happy Friday Magee Families:

This week, 5th Grader Grace L. was recognized at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for a poem she wrote for the the Southern Anthology Series. Her poem has been published in the book titled, "Unstoppable". We are proud of Grace for her hard work and creativity. She read her poem at the 4th and 5th grade concert Thursday evening. Congratulations Grace you wrote an amazing poem!

As I mention the 4th and 5th grade concert, they did an absolutely amazing job creating the variety show. The 4th and 5th graders wrote their own skits, designed and created their own set displays, chose the songs performed, and decided what instruments they were going to play. The variety show was fully produced by the 4th and 5th graders with direction from our music teacher, Miss Petrie. There were so many things to be proud of during the concert. The learners were given a challenge and they persevered by providing the audience a good time with lots of laughter and by overcoming any fears or nerves they had about performing in front of a live audience. They showed student agency at it's best throughout the creation of the variety show and during their performance. At the end of the concert, they wanted to show their school pride by ending with our Magee School Song. You can see this performance as you scroll down the newsletter.

I have included some updated information about the upcoming Field Day, an upcoming KMSD listening session, and the election results of the Magee PTO. So please scroll down to keep yourself updated and in the know.

Magee Field Day is fast approaching!

Friday, June 3rd, 2022 (Rain Date: June 6th)

12:00 PM - 3:00 PM

We are excited for our upcoming field day. Field day is an on-going annual tradition at Magee and this year it just so happens to fall around the date where we finish our One School, One Book "Kenny and the Dragon". With that, we are working on our traditional field games and putting a "medieval" twist to them. Here are a couple things for parents to keep in mind:

  • You are welcome to join your child(ren) during their field day times. Field Day is on Friday, June 3rd and starts at 12:00 PM. If you plan on joining the event, you will need to sign in at the office and can then venture outside to the fun.
  • If you are curious about the games during field day, please visit the game descriptions here: Field Day Games.
  • We will be keeping an eye on the weather during the entire week. If the weather is forecasting a high percentage of rain by Thursday, June 2nd at 12 PM - we will reschedule Field Day for Monday, June 6th. An email will be sent out through Infinite Campus if we need to postpone Field Day until Monday, June 6th.
  • We are always open to family members volunteering during Field Day. If you would like to do so, please let Mr. Nies know.
