Summer Message from Principal Nies

Happy Summer Magee Families:

I hope that you have been thoroughly enjoying this amazing Summer weather!

There are three main items in this communication to you.

  1. Important dates in August to add to your calendars.
  2. Pictures and bios of our new Magee team members.
  3. Information about school supplies.

I am excited to share with you our new team members joining Magee Elementary School for the 2022-2023 School Year. Before I finish this message, I want to share the hiring process we took to determine who would be joining us at Magee for the 2022-2023 school year.

  • 80 applicant applications were reviewed by me. While reviewing the applications, I was looking for experience with personalized learning, literacy and mathematics teaching experience, student goal setting and reflection, experience with habits of mind, outdoor learning practices, and alignment in their current practices with our KMSD graduate profile.
  • The 80 applicants were reduced to 11.
  • The 11 applicants were reviewed by an interview team and the team determined six (6) final candidates to be interviewed in person.
  • The final six (6) candidates participated in an in-person interview with an interview team of nine (9) staff members (classroom teachers, specialists, special education, and administration).
  • After the in-person interview, the candidates were asked to review anonymous student literacy data, determine areas of strengths for the students, areas of growth for the students, create a plan of next steps, and how that created plan will be communicated to the students' families.
  • After this was completed, the team worked together to review our notes from the in-person interview, review the writing prompt, and I did reference checks.
  • From there, we recommended our final candidates to move forward with Human Resources and approval from the School Board. The KMSD School Board approved their contracts on Tuesday, June 21st.
  • Be mindful that we hired a new 5K Teacher because Mrs. Weiss will be teaching 4K AM and 4K Forest next school year.

I wish you all an amazing summer. If you have any questions over the summer, please don't hesitate to schedule a time to meet with me: Click Here to Schedule a Meeting with Me

Welcome to the Magee Team!

Ms. Rebecca Wall (Five-Year-Old Kindergarten)

Hello Magee! My name is Rebecca Wall and I am so excited to join the Magee community as a K5 teacher. This year will be my 12th year teaching kindergarten. I love working with the littles because it is their pure curiosity and wonder that not only intrigues me, but drives my passion for fostering a love for learning.

I have been married for 18 years and have two children, Brianna (14) and Ethan (10). I am also a proud mom of a black lab, a mastiff, axolotls, and a baby snake. I love spending time with family and friends and cannot wait to extend that into building a new family here at Magee!  I am looking forward to beginning the new school year and am excited to meet you all soon!

Ms. Sharon Ellifson (First Grade)

Greetings! My name is Sharon Ann Ellifson and I am incredibly excited to be joining Magee Elementary as one of the new First Grade teachers. Previously, I taught Fourth Grade at Cedar Grove- Belgium Elementary as well as Kindergarten and First Grade at Kohler Elementary.

I cannot wait to contribute my skills and teaching experiences to promote enthusiasm and excitement for all learners at Magee.

I reside in Ixonia with my husband Nick and our 3 boys - Brennan (9), Archer (7), and Clayton (5). We are both originally from the Minocqua area and love spending time outside as much as possible.

Hope everyone is having a fun, relaxing summer! I cannot wait to meet you all.

Ms. Katie Fetzer (First Grade)

Hello Magee! My name is Katie Fetzer and I am thrilled to join the team as one of the first grade teachers. I recently finished my 16th year of teaching in East Troy, with the last 11 being in first grade.

I live in Dousman with my son Peter, who will be in 6th grade at KMMS in the fall. Needless to say, we are both excited about our new schools and new adventures! Peter and I both love to swim, go up north, read, and go on day trips, especially to Madison (my alma mater - go Badgers!).

I am looking forward to meeting you all and becoming part of such a positive, welcoming, and supportive school community.

Mr. Steven Sizer (Occupational Therapy)

Hello! My name is Steven Sizer, and I am excited to join the Magee family as an occupational therapist this upcoming school year! I received my MS in occupational therapy from UW-Milwaukee in 2020, and I have been working with children and families of children with special needs since 2016.

I come from a family of educators and am passionate about public education and universal/accessible design. As a school-based occupational therapist, I strive to ensure that all students are able to participate in and benefit from their education regardless of their disability status.

In my free time, I enjoy staying active, playing board games with friends, and participating in local musical theater. You can catch me in the Hartford Player's production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame this summer.
