The Brian LaViolette Foundation

An Update from Kim LaViolette

Greetings!

A lot of people ask us 'what is your Foundation all about?' We love this question.

People tell us we aren't your ordinary scholarship foundation. But why? Yes, we award scholarships to deserving students while honoring my brother, Brian, but over 68% of our scholarships are in the names of others, also allowing their spirit  to live on.

Because of this, communities remember, schools get involved and students are introduced to these individuals.

Family and friends participate in selecting and presenting the scholarship in the name of those they were close to. And each year we all remember.

A few notes from those involved...

"I wanted to let you know Marissa's comments to me as she was holding the medal that was around her neck, "this is the most special thing I have received...I will keep this somewhere very special, it means to much to me."

She was so moved by the presentation and what it meant to the family.  I am not sure I have ever seen a kid get the magnitude of something as much as she did.  She was so honored and touched.  Thank you for letting me part of such a beautiful tribute.

"I must tell you very modestly that all the work on Eric's Award to date was paid for last night when I got to stand between last year and this year's recipients. What a terrific feeling to  know that I had a small part in this fabulous effort to memorialize Eric and Brian. Thank you for all your support and efforts."

"Thank you for providing us with an opportunity to be a part of Brian's journey. The gift of our sons has and continues to illuminate the lives of others."

We will award 47 scholarships this year.  32 are in honor of others in addition to Brian.  We wouldn't have it any other way...
