Summer is finally here! I have been enjoying seeing all the high school and college graduation photos posted by proud parents and family. The S.H.A.U.N. Foundation for Girls also celebrated a milestone - our 7th Anniversary!
We had the privilege of hosting a beautiful event to mark this significant occasion! It was an absolute joy to see so many familiar faces - friends who have been unwavering in their support of our mission to empower underserved and underrepresented girls and young women.
Last month, I also had the pleasure of meeting the young ladies of Black Girls Film Camp. The girls came to LA for a field trip, and I got a chance to spend some time with them - sharing advice that I learned throughout my career in journalism and now as a filmmaker myself. They were so eager to learn about my journey, and I loved meeting these future directors, producers, editors and executives!
Our relationship with Black Girls Film Camp doesn’t end there. I’m also looking forward to presenting an award at their Film Screening & Awards Showcase this month!
Now, while we bask in the glow of this recent new partnership and of our anniversary celebration, we know the work is far from over. There are so many small, yet impactful organizations that need our grants to help their girls. With your dedication and support, we can continue to empower, uplift, and inspire the next generation of strong, confident and capable women!
