Hello September! It’s hard to believe that we are already heading into Fall!
I hope that you had an amazing, relaxing summer and that you have fun and special memories from the last few months. I’m excited about this time of year because the new season brings big news for the S.H.A.U.N. Foundation for Girls and, as always, it’s all because of your continued support.
In this month’s newsletter, you will see the benefits of two more grants that we have given - one to a young philanthropist who is a real dynamo and then another for a back-to-school initiative that provided much-needed supplies for a group of very grateful young ladies.
First, our Young Changemaker Grant has been awarded to 17-year-old Kourtnei Dantzler of Compton, CA. Kourtnei founded her own nonprofit called 'Thick is Me' after being bullied about her weight. Today, Kourtnei is committed to helping other teens feel confident in their own skin.
Next, back-to-school is a fun time for students, but it can also be very stressful - especially when your family struggles to make ends meet and you don’t have the supplies that other kids have.
We found a very impactful nonprofit in South Florida called 'Girls in Christ' that empowers local, underserved girls by equipping them with spiritual and tangible life skills. Our grant went towards their first annual Back to School Bash.
You can read about our newest grantees in this month’s newsletter. So much more to share with you!
Thank you for your support of our mission! Remember...when you empower a girl, she WILL change the world!
