Community Shabbat Dinner
- Join us for services (5:15 PM) to welcome Kabbalat Shabbat together and stay for Shabbat dinner (6:30 PM) with Mordechai followed by a Shabbat friendly presentation on the Art Within Shabbat. $20/adult, $ 14/ child

Wine and Dessert Reception
- Enjoy wine and dessert with Mordechai followed by a presentation on the famous works he has done. Art will be available for purchase. $20/person

Sisterhood November Hot Topic

Sisterhood's November Hot Topic is Hidden Family Stories: Conversations about the Stigma and Treatment of Mental Illness. Four women - Frieda Saraga, Kim Miller, Denise Trager and Gabrielle Magid - will share their personal and family experiences with mental illness. Award-winning Documentary Film Screening

You are invited to the free screening of an award winning documentary,
The Final Victory of Dr. Felix Zandman
, which is about this Holocaust survivor, distinguished scientist and founder of Vishay Intertechnology. Sponsored by the Weiss-Leibo Fund for Excellence in Adult Education, the screening - followed by a Q and A session with Mrs. Zandman - will take place from 3:00-5:00 PM on Sunday, November 15

Mi-shebeirakh Update

On Monday, Thursday and Shabbat mornings we are currently reading the names of approximately 150 people in Hebrew and English - a list that might unknowingly include those who have recovered, are chronically ill, or have passed away. It is necessary to begin a new list periodically for this reason.
A new list will start on November 30. Names from the current list will be removed. If you would like to retain any current names or include new names of friends and family members who are ill

- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month: During October, the Social Action Community is going to focus on different programs that are testing, increasing awareness, and raising money for this cause.
- Dignity U Wear Drive: Thanks to your generosity, another 482 units were donated to Dignity U Wear, making our total donation for those in need at just about 1,000 articles of undergarments for men, women and children. Dignity U Wear has asked that we also help by sorting clothing for them. Click on "Dignity U Wear" above for more information.
- Operation Isaiah: The recent statistics show that ONE IN EIGHT people are living in poverty and facing hunger every day right here in Jacksonville. JFCS has long provided non-perishable food items free of charge to people experiencing serious financial difficulties through their on-site Emergency Food Pantry.

Store:
Whether you are donating or buying, 100% of the net proceeds of the Hubbard House Thrift Store support victims of domestic violence and the services needed to keep victims and their children safe.
- Gifts for IDF Soldiers: "A Package from Home" is an organization that provides the "little" things for the Israeli army. They depend on donations for many of those "little" things from U.S.
- Volunteers Needed to Serve Meals at I.M. Sulzbacher Center: The Sulzbacher Center serves more than 1,200 meals daily, provides healthcare to more than 200 people, and provides shelter to 340 local homeless men, women, and children. Sadly, there are many more living on the streets.

Teacher Supply Depot Drive:
Please fill a bag and drop it off at the Jacksonville Jewish Center. Pick ups are on the last Sunday of each month.
- World Relief of Jacksonville: World Relief Jacksonville serves two vulnerable people groups in our city: Refugees and Victims of Human Trafficking, while also advocating for Comprehensive Immigration Reform.

Service HONORS are available at religious services four days a week at the Jacksonville Jewish Center. We read Torah on Saturday morning, Saturday evening, Monday morning and Thursday morning. Available HONORS are reading Torah, aliyot (blessings before and after the Torah reading), hagbah (raising the Torah), gelilah (dressing the Torah), ark openings and English readings (Shabbat - Prayer for our Country, Prayer for Israel, Weekday - Psalm of the day).

Adult Library
Ambassador Dennis Ross is coming the the JCA on October 29th to speak about
the relationship between Israel & the United States. If you want to get
some background information before his visit, we have a wealth of books &
magazines that can help you be informed. Many of the magazines we have (for
you to adopt) also have information about life in Israel, world
events that involve Israel, and also events in the United States and how Jews
in this country live. Some of the magazines, such as Hadassah, have tours of
American and foreign cities that have, or had, Jewish influence. There is also
a collection of Biblical Archaeology that documents finds in the State of
Israel and some items from antiquity.
Our volunteer librarians, Elaine Furman and Wendy Honigman,
hope you find our library a
worthwhile endeavor for the entire congregation and encourage you to borrow or browse.
Coping with Loss
Coping With Loss is a support group that offers a safe and supportive place to share your grief. We ask that you pre-register if you are attending the class which meets twice a month by contacting
